What cracks me up - and I mean NO offense to anyone who fits these - is that people will happily buy £160 DS2500's, and £200 brake cooling ducts and deflector plates. But if you suggest spending £600 on a 4pot setup everyone says it's overkill - even though your pads every year then cost £50...
I would definitely never change my 5th gear. Dunno if it's just the cup but it revs too much at motorway speeds anyway - and it definitely needed more at the ring
I've never got into 5th on a UK track so not sure where I'd get an advantage from that
Why do so many people think a cable throttle means a better car?
You don't make peak engine power at 100% throttle - the whole reason electronic throttles are used is so the throttle position can be tweaked by the ecu map for best performance. Also f**k going back to days with idle control...
Yes... but... me and my mate (he's got an EP3) were looking at the time attack lap times from Donington. Based on this years lap times he would have been 2nd and I only need to gain 4 seconds to be in the top 3. Considering I have no diff, run rainsports and my only session at Donington was in...
That's exactly the plan. Got 1 or 2 sessions of Time Attack to do - depending on how I get on in that I might do that full time 2015.
Also doing some sprints to see how I enjoy them.
Not sure I want to get into bumper to bumper racing just yet but we'll see.
Sprints you've got starts to...
Fair play that actually made me LOL in real life.
These are the main reasons I think I'll be going with a quaife. Watching the donington vid (and other burpspeed vids) I think it's more than good enough for me. I might regret it in the future when I'm hammering over rumble strips on too...
It's not a whole dash off job as far as I remember mate - just the top half off.
Which IMO is very easy. There's a guide somewhere but basically pop your two plastic trim bits off (the blue cup trims)
Undo the 4 T20 torx screws behind them.
Pop the top off the steering column cover
Undo...
Ahh right ok.
Well you've got two options mate - either the stalk itself has stopped working. Mines in the garage so I can chuck it in a jiffy bag and send it to you unless you've got another you could try. I do however doubt that as I've taken one apart and it's just a contact switch...
I'll admit standing on the hairpin at Mallory watching you guys - the way James' car puts the power down at that corner is INSANE.
You could hear he was nailing it far earlier than anyone else.
Hrmmm ok.
I appreciate all the feedback guys. I think I'm gonna budget for the tyres, and a trip...
Sounds about right - the black and white ones are power/earths etc.. and speaker cables
The yellow one is the one for the controls. I believe blue one is cd changer if you have one of those.
Thanks for that mate!
So looking like £1150 -> £1350 depending on how much of the gearbox needs rebuilt.
I think I'm gonna go quaife unless the mfactory quote comes in at like £800 - which I can't see happening tbh.
