Yes - I know. I know that you can crop.
I was simply saying that with the OP wanting both motorsport and plane shots that the extra length is more beneficial than the speed.
Cropping a 200mm shot is never going to give the same result as a 400mm..
400mm
Cropped 200mm
And both...
Yeah we did some back to back tests against the 70-200 2.8 in a studio. They are both sharp but the 135mm f2L is ever so slightly sharper. The AF is insanely fast and .... this is difficult to word but the 135mm gives a very pleasing silky bokeh that just makes me feel warm inside lol
It's on...
Other thing to look at mate is the 135mm f2
If you want pin sharp with an amazing DOF - it's £400 cheaper than even the non-IS 70-200 ;)
I spend way too much time renting and borrowing lenses - so much so that I can never decide what to actually buy lol
Thing is though - comparing the mega resolution of a 1DX to a 6D isn't really fair lol
Also he stated he wants to do planes and action - I still don't think a 70-200 is right.
You can't just choose to walk onto a runway to get closer
I loved the 70-200 2.8 non-IS I had... it was the best...
There's a massive difference between motorsport and aeroplane shots...
Even low flying at shows
I stick to my opinion that you need the extra range of the 100-400mm over the speed of the 70-200 2.8
If you were shooting indoors or wanting to do a fair bit of closer/studio work I'd say the...
In THEORY (and a few people have tested them) - the longer inlet length should bring the torque curve a bit lower down the revs - so there's a bit more mid-end grunt
I figure as renaultsport designed the original inlet to go all the way up and over the engine to get the longest length...
Have a look at the 70D coming out next month - it's got much improved ISO capability, an insane AF system, in built wi-fi.
It's what I'm going to be buying
Personally I'd buy that and upgrade your glass, the lenses you have aren't brilliant. I'd always go for good glass over a body
Minor update...
Swapped my 90mm trumpets for 120mm ones
Sorry for the crap instagram pic
Also found one of my injectors was missing - which was causing a bit of a missfire and apparently ruining my MPG quite a bit
Had 8 injectors so played around till I found a good set - car feels...
Yep I shot Waddington air show at the weekend with a 70-200 2.8 IS on a crop and it wasn't long enough.
It's also not quite long enough for some of the shots I'd like from track side
It's my mates that I'm using for now - but I'm looking at the 70-300 in a few months as I want a bit more...
Right...
70-200mm on full frame is too short for motorsport stuff. You would definitely need the extender.
You wont get a 70-200 2.8 + extender for £1k - or if you do it will be the non IS version and the IS is VERY nice
IMO go straight for the 100-400 or the 70-300 as both have IS, both...
As said - my last 2 exhaust systems after 2-3 years all the internals had burnt out and they were deafening anyway. So unless you have an openable silencer and you can replace the internals it's pointless buying a "lifetime" exhaust
Also my understanding of the last ruling was that the Wednesday test days are excluded from the 92 days anyway - residents are just trying to restrict the noisy weekend sessions.
I have to say though Mallory brought it on themselves
Driven there a few times and the noise test is a fat guy waving a mic somewhere around the back while you do 2k
They don't take it as seriously as other places and the circuit is very close to housing.
LOL I never said the rust was the cause - I said the rust made me think it was older than 18months ;)
Yep - which is exactly why the K-Tec built exhausts have those gussets on ;)
A) It's very rusty compared to mine (the welds, the rust on the pipes) - yes it would metal polish up but mines 3 years old and neither me nor the previous owner cleaned it - so it still looks older than 18months to me
B) Yes - it's a stress fracture and it's not the first to do it. There are...
You know seriously I don't want to start calling people liars - but i'll get pics of mine when I get home. There's NO WAY that's 18 months old. The rust on it is insane!
Loads of orecas sold - I've seen them 3 or 4 years old and fine. Mine is well over 3 years old and polishes up like a mirror
Either it's dropped and been hit at some point or it's been bouncing around on knackered rubbers - but somethings caused that to split
No offense - I realise chopping...
This IMO
They do it everywhere - even at Donington which is at the end of a f*cking runway LOL
If you don't want to live near a race track then don't. It's not rocket surgery. There's a fair few of us that would love to live near a track so the houses wouldn't be difficult to sell!
