Was very odd - i parked the car at work, got back some 3 hours later and had the short period of grinding (almost like when pads have worn right down) and then it went and ok again. Bro seemed to think it may be related to ABS? Thanks for your reply.

...........very briefly - afterwards had a grinding noise and now all ok again. Any ideas what this could be? Has only happened once, no warning lights or anything.

Im still confused, when you turn the ignition on and off you can change the temp no problem. Is this just not an electrical fault? Cheers

Thats a shame - don't really want to have to loose the CD player - can I use a second hand CD tuner rather than cassette one? I see they sell on ebay for peanuts. Thanks all for help.

Ok will do. Surely if the cog is broken / stuck you would not be able to change temp when the car is off or on?

got one of these just after xmas - fitted 1GB RAM and 8GB SD card and running Vista - looks the bomb!

............the cassette one already in mine. Looking for something with DVD as a minimum (sat nav / tv tuner a bonus) which will be compatable with the standard Renault (Alpine) CD changer and will also connect to the stalk controls. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank You.

.....temperature when driving. Everything works fine by way of the heater speed, air conditioning, etc but you cannot change the temperature when the car is running. When you turn the car off, change the temp and then fire it up, the temp changes! Is this normal or a likely problem? Any help...
