Why is my mac so slowwwww?

Why is my mac so slowwwww?
I know there are a few mac gurus on here. I have a 2006 iMac (white) with 2.16 core 2 duo processor and 3gb RAM. I really cant be bothered to format and start from scratch and have tried repairing permissions, etc but it stills seems to be running really slowly compared to normal...- Schweppy

Funny you should say that! Someone on CS has told me that the code i got from RStuner was exactly the same as the code they had from Renaults Diagnostic machine and it was throttle pedal!- Schweppy
