It could be the gearbox syncros being worn. One suggestion... If it is the box don't get one from Renault! See my thread in the Dealer / Trader review section.

This TBH and use any change you have left over to buy a Rear ARB which whilst it wont give you more power, will make a noticable difference to how the car feels to drive.

I have a Nilfisk 120 Great bit of kit, the Nilfisk seem to be much more solid than the Karcher (Which I had before)

Re: Phaser 1 172 I think the Cup Spolier would finish off the rear nicely, giving a bit more shape to the rear.

Same as my brothers (Although his is a 1.8SE with Black Leather), really nice sofa to get from A - B and the build quality is nice and solid, very dull though. Have to agree with Turkish, the Golf was much more 'interesting'

Rokko Looks great and the exhaust is very tidy and discreet! Not feeling the paint on the Jetta, but for a 1 month turn around it is very impressive.

Then Standard Shocks and Springs are the way to go IMO for comfort and handling, Spend the extra you wanted to spend on 'After Market' Springs etc on a rear ARB that will give you the improved handling you are looking for.

Really like that (Apart from the front plate, although I suspect its not run with it fitted very often)

The one that insures the business he works for I presume LOL, you wouldn't be able to do the same thing unless your employer allows you to insure your car for company use. Welcome along Chris, very nice car to have at 17 and a result that you can insure it on the companies insurance. Go easy...

Looks Great... Not keen on the side Graphics, but thats a minor critique for what looks otherwise like an Epic car! Get your membership paid up for the club, well worth it!

Why are you worrying about how much it costs to fix? You said you got it 2 months ago and it had a 3 month warranty, surely the warranty will pick up the bill? Or am I totally missing the point?

The car wont 'Handle Rubbish' with Stock Springs back in, It will handle as Renault intended and the 172 cups handling is far from 'Rubbish' ;) If you need a bit of comfort back then pop the stock springs back in, the ride will still be pretty firm though, as it was never exactly 'soft' from...

Knows it! I dont think the Gold plated engine is 'ruined' personally, the dedication that muct go into that car to keep it looking like that is impressive!

Your lack of photos of 'Real RS Fords' (RWD) makes baby Jesus cry :( Although that engine bay in the 3 Door is something else! Glad I dont have to keep that clean!

Get a Bit of rag, spray some Glass cleaner on it and wipe along the wiper blades a few times, I'd bet they are filthy and this is what is causing the smearing
