made a purchase yesterday a new battery.
and our drive as it stands. still missing a van and seat cupra r. thats a mk1 escort shell under wraps at the back.
good effort mate youve certainly waited long enough for it. i feel your excitement ive wanted one for yonks and came close to getting a 5 just looking it over and thinking it could be mine had my man helmet weaping
So finally we got the car rolling and working theres still loads to do but its now home, wouldnt exactly call it safe with a battery zip tied down to the passenger seat rails but it had to be out the workshop.
The guy came to do the screen 45 quid fitted for a new one was a decent price. The...
another day at the unit and the putting together has continued. The tanks back in, exhaust on, shifters in, all the body panels minus the rear side windows and the windscreen are now on, all aero catches on.
I stripped the rear loom of what wasn't needed and had left that loose and not taped up...
to be fair i couldnt care less what it looks like i got it to have some fun in when i felt like it i didnt go buy it with this all in mind i just did it because it cost me 400 quid. plus it would of just added to the pain of others when this went flying past looking like a shitter.
ive just done a quick add up of hours spent on it. turns out it was around 49 hours spent with between 1 and 3 people working on it. also if i was a normal customer off the street the wok taken on here would come to around 2.5k. i got it all done ridiculously cheap thankfully else i wouldnt of...
Time to hit the interior with some cherry red
i was going to add a long gusset on this peice but decided it wasnt needed and time again was against us so a little tab at the bottom to keep things nice snug was enough for me.
With the interior done we left for...
Another update i have so so many pictures but ill try and keep it short and its all abit jumbled but ill try and get it in order.
Ok so after where i left off the cage was finished off the feet tacked and welded in place.
Seat rails welded in. The passenger seat has been positioned...
So heres another update we started as we've been going along today i was doing bits and bobs and Austen was mainly doing the cage and body work.
I started with prepping more bits on the inside first up was grinding back all the little tabs to make way for p clips and other nicer ways on...
Chip this is my 4th rallye now and my 3rd cherry red s1. All had different states of tune.
Haha yes mate its a shame it'll need doing again all that effort you went to :p.
Got more done today but I can't be arsed to upload the pics ill do that another day.
why? tax costs f**k all and having it for a back up for the clio is a good idea. it will be used on track and i wont always have the use of a trailor to get it there so having it road legal is handy.
yeah i seen your reply in the other rallye thread. my name is also Ben Lee lol. i had a quick shift and rose jointed linkages that i think i still have if you was after some?
Christmas eve at 4.30pm is where the car started its big change. Id collected a cage a few weeks back along with my mate who got one for his evo 2 that is also going through the same things the rallye is about to. Id got some steel for seat rails and more lockable aero catches for the boot and...
so your name is also Ben Lee and you also have a s1 rallye as a track toy..... chances of that?
this is mine taken christmas eve before it gets a custom cage and full hit of paint and loads of other goodies.
pretty much what i thought and had read before, mates mums just got the estate 320 doesn't go quick but its not needed to. my 172 doesnt go above 3k anymore as i have the rallye to have fun in and its just used to go to work in so a 330 would be overkill.
looks nice, im looking at these myself but cant make my mind up what engine to go for. any ideas what the fuel consumption is like between the 318 and 330?
as i said its no beauty queen and when finished itll look much better. its not a daily drive i use it when i want to go for a blast, it has no reason to have a heater. and yeah its alot of fun in the wet.
if you read the thread ive got a full cage ordered ive even put pictures up, its a work...
have a search on rallye register youll get them cheaper direct from the guys that make them rather than a place like kam racing. mine was 250 but was fitted but never used think there about 300 new defo worth it tho it replaces everything linkages etc and feels extremely well made.
watch the...
