you should find it easy to fit but you'll need the tracking and camber checked after.
i've had mine for wellover 2 years now and there still going well
the amp will never go to dc. it will send out a square wave that is still ac but will contain more power as the tansistors will be in a full on state for longer.
as for having an amp with a higher output than the speaker input.
yes it is ideal but your not going to blow a speaker by only gving...
ticking isn't from the alt, that would be a wirring noise with engine speed.
i'd have a check make sure your phono's are plugged properly into the hu.
if it's all ok then check the settings on the amp.
if all else fails ditch the amp and cap and get a new amp
