Agree, unless you need more parts of the std assembly (the bearings on mine were knacked and wanted to refresh the mounts themselves) then I would be tempted with the washer mod. Cheaper and easier to do.
With the weight/brake bias of the Clio the rear does very little and even on track they don't generate too much heat. So either a good quality std pad, or a very mild upgrade ie a good fast road pad (say Ferodo DS performance - this is what I use and it's fine).
For the front depending on use...
The only two differences I can notice is the top hat design and the new type insert.
The new insert fits in the old top mounts, but if you use the old type top hat then you don't have enough thread on the shock to get it fully down (need anothe 2mm mmm ish). Can't see why you can't gring of...
Paid a bit more attention to the new top mounts today. there is a change to the top hat design. The new ones have a flat underside where on the old ones there is a spigot...
Part no's:
R54 3A 097 80R top mount kit
R82 00 867 250 insert
To be honest I needed to replace the bearings in mine so got the kit anyway, so never checked the new style insert to the old top mounts :o
Complete kit from Renault, fitted them my self so fitting =£0, paid for the pair £100, includes the bearings top mounts, the new style inserts/nuts, top hats and nuts.
I'll find part no's in a bit...
Had both (not on a clio btw) and rated the Hankook higher esp on road & wet. On track they where about the same with maybe a small advantage on the Toyo.
The main concern about the idea suggested is the amount of water/debris that the filter will be exposed to.
Probably fine as a dry track setup, but as a all year round one, not so sure.
The Hankook RS2 out of the track orientated tyres is v.good on wet. Depending how wet and lenght of the race PS3s will work well for a lot of water.
Are wet (cut) rally tyres allowed?
Agree the Paradas will not as good but on a light car like the Clio they should be OK.
The V70 from Kumho is a very good semi slick and cheaper than the 048.
The AD08 (yoko) is also good.
As cheeper options
The RS2 from Hankook works well (at around £85 a corner) as does the
595rsr from Federal
Thanks for the welcome guys :)
No, it wasn't on e-bay, found it on autotrader. About 80 miles from me, but after looking at a few locally, I expanded my search and this was right for me.
Picking up later today :D
Just thought to say hello after joinning in.
Secured a very nice 182cup in burnt orange last night, so will try to post some pics when I've picked it up and had a chance to give it a good clean :)
