Removing the door card is pretty simple, theres about 4 torx head screws along the lower edge (about 4 iirc), poss some up the sides I cant think off the top of my head, just check around the perimeter of the door card. Theres a larger screw behind the door release lever, remove that and unhook...
Hi Matt,
Ive been having an issue with my 1.4 16v and starting. Like you go to crank and you just get a relay click from the fuse box area and thats all. By getting out and locking and opening the car again it makes a tone so it acknowlegdes something isnt right. Some times itll then it...
i dont think its really the end of the world as its not like your oil pressure will suffer with a leak there, as long as you keep an eye on your oil level which will take a while to drop still. Mainly just aesthetic really.
Is it poss to remove the upper plenum and proper clean and degrease...
To get the rocker cover off involves removing the timing belt as you have to take the cam sprockets off to get the rocker cover off. Do the 20 seconds of cleaning and sealing, then cover back on, cam sprockets on a bit then new timing belt and re-time and tension and so on
Got the new upper idler and aux belt kit fitted today, so glad thats sorted.
Aux belt kit
Wheel and arch liner removed to get at the pulley area
Old tensioner relieved by turning it clockwise with a 13mm ring spanner then locking it "open" with a 6mm Allen key...
Thanks for your reply Danny,
Just got back from Renault with a new kit and yeah you're right the new bearing is silent and a lot 'stiffer', the old one has definitely had it,
Taa
Hello again CS, if i could ask for a quick response id be very grateful, the tensioner bearing spins very freely but makes a lot of noise, is this usual? also the belt has a flat spot on the unribbed side that is about 3.5" long and perfectly square so id looks as if a pulley has stalled?
Im...
yeah thats a good one, better check that the 24V fuses are all good as well huh ;)
If youve got a multimeter about id just double check that the sockets in the connector block are actually located correctly with regards to the headunit, the head unit will have a sticker on it probably saying...
ight mannnn, is this still an issue?
Ill have my tools down next week as need to replace the shock bushes on Ollies Ibiza
If your about these ways netime can have a look at this in the week / weekend?
Gimme a dingggg
Sounds like the switched and permanent lives have been swapped over at some point? The permanent 12V is normally yellow, and the switched live red.
If they are crossed then it loses what it thinks is its permanent live every time the ignition is switched off and hence loses all its settings and...
yeahhh I had thought its a shame to have to get the whole assembly when its just the bearing thats gone, thankyou very much for your offer. Pressing a new bearing in wouldnt be bad, my neighbours workshop has got a press but getting the old one out would be a mission to get out as there is...
Hi Mick thanks for your reply.
This is what I found that when asking around that the tensioner alone was twice the price of the full kit that contained the same part! I had the Aux Belt kit fitted by a guy about 15K miles ago as I didnt have time to do it myself before going away, and the belt...
After an hour and a half of phone calls to 9 places, you can only get the whole assembly, P/No. 8200641468 and its about £100! and nowhere can get it until monday... Ass.
nice one for that thanks, ill see where i can get with that P/No. tomorrow, I did actually have the whole kit replaced about 15K miles ago by a reputable mech as I had zero time to do it done before i went to spain in the car, I stressed to him that I needed the 'kit' fitted, and i could see...
yeah turns out there's what looks like a pretty big dealership not far from here, ill give them a ding in the morning, better put my mad luck hat on for trying to get the parts tomorrow
Taa Stevoh
Evening CS,
Its become pretty apparent that the upper auxiliary belt idler pulley's bearing has retired itself from service, and is consequently sounding horrid. Its a K4J 1.4 16v engine.
Could anyone possibly shed some light with regards to a part number, recognised description, or...
