when ive been driving around, then put my hand on the air filter it is quite warm, nick hill is quite hard sometimes to get in contact with, i thought i might try the brainies on this site first!
why is the i.k (pic) open at the top? would it not be more affective if was sealed in? Could i make something up to fit over the open part and fit another air feed, or would this do any harm, ie is there a specific reason why it is open? cheers for any...
i had a drive in a civic vti-s the other day, had to make a delivery to bham in it. It really is quite wicked when the power kicks in but it dosent start till about 5500 rpm! I must say it didnt feel quite as quick as my 16v, but it is too close to call really. I can definately say though that...
ive had a couple of close calls, once in my micra was going down a small country lane, taking it nice and easy, when suddenly a large tractor came round a sharp bend, and the farmer was reading the paper! he saw me and swerved (i had slammed on my brakes and stopped by this point) he narrowly...
i remember there was an interview with a top copper once, and he was spouting off about cameras being placed only in accident black spots but he came unstuck when the interviewer asked him about a new duel carriageway that was having cameras installed even though it hadnt been opened yet!! lol!
company cars are just as fun,
we had a volvo 740 estate, with 180k,
2 td mondeos with 170k each
and a battered fiesta ghia 1.1.
all got a hammering all the time, the volvo was the most fun, rear wheel drive, wet slippy islands!!
ive had my 16v chipped, it now limits at 7800 rpm but i rarely take it that high, i find it is quickest when i change at about 7000 rpm, seems to fall nicely into the power band again!
so far ive delocked the doors, and fitted a clifford concept 300 alarm. Never had any break ins (touch wood) also having the car sprayed soon (hopefully) and i might have the bootlock removed.
im my rt (97 P reg) i had 2 10" subs, and 2 amps which all weighed quite a bit, i had a stainless steel cat-back exhaust and always used to get about 10.5 seconds (roughly) to 60.
ive raced a tuned 19v up to !20, accelleration i had to back off a little, cus i was right behind him, but once into fifth gear they are hard to keep up with, his was lowered quite a bit and handled well, my car was tottally standard. i slowed down for an island, he went across it at 80! nutter!!
my girlfriend drivesa 1.4 zetec fiesta. Seats are horrible, interior in general is dull and grey, ford four spoke alloys are awful, boaty suspension, crap brakes, pokey engine though, shame it pisses oil all over the place! her driving style is different. sometimes lacks observation, cuts across...
ive heard of a few lada enthusiasts putting alfa engines and so forth in. some people actually really like them! wouldnt drive one even if i was paid personnally. Funnily enough i have a vid of a lada doing a burn out!
there is a discount store called hootys in willenhall west mids by me, they sell all the halfords stuff for a quid each! Bought some of that bug/tar remover worked a treat.
4 mile to work in car, 50 mile in a 4 tonner lorry then 4 mile back home. first time ive drova a lorry, biggest thing ive driven before that is a long wheel base transit.
my mate is 22 and so far we recon he has had 25 cars! his dad has a small repair garage, and if someone bought in a shed which was more expensive to repair they just left it there so my mate had em and run into the ground (or a wall)
im 22 with 4 years no claims and no points, i paid £1200 f.c last april, and this year i have tried loads of quotes and it is still about £1000. My estate is pretty quiet but the area just up the road id pretty rough and it falls under the same post code as me.
i dont think you get a ban fred you just have to retake your test, my mate had 3 points for taking his moped on the motorway and when he was driving his canary yellow mk 2 escort (dont ask) he parked on zig zag lines, at 5 am to get a tenner out the cash point, as he turned round a copper pulled...
i got a pair of mole grips and twisted, heated up with a hairdryer first to try and soften the glue, but it came off no probs, bit damaged but still usable.
my g/f has been after one of these, and she found one at milestones of stafford, 8 months old 1700 miles on the clock 8 grand, she has a 1.4 fiesta chicane at the mo, (which is pissing out oil everywhere for some reason) and she said the 1.4 clio didnt feel any quicker and if she is having a new...
cheers daz, the only thing is if im spending close to 2k i dont really want exactly the same colour i got now, i am definately considering the cup blue or the flame red, and my g/f agrees.
my bro has a zr 120 and in first and second it was pretty evenly matched, but my bro said if we had gone at a higher speed i would have definately left him behind. remember there is a 1.4 zr too, dont know the specs on that one though.
my little brain has been ticking over, got my choice down to 4 colours,
flame red, cup blue (would this be hard to get hold of?) iceburg silver or the mg grey. Any comments?
im not very good at putting my point across, i didnt mean for him to make up stories just that he said he didnt even go into the lane and the guy behind panicked, which probably means he wasnt concentrated 100%, thats all, sorry for the confusion!
