Did you drive the track in the wet? It worries me that it will be wet when im there as I have heard its lethal in the wet!

DS2500s used to squeal in my 172 and 182 but only at low speed, didnt really bother me though!

Ok ive got them on the car now, so took it out to get a few pics yesterday, im well pleased with the finish, just need to get a cup spoiler and lower it now! :)

I was in a similar situation to you, Ive just got a 197 now, paid 8.4k for it (56 plate with 18k miles) and I must say im well pleased! It drives like new and even though it maybe doesnt offer the raw fun my 182 offered, its much more competent and is still a blast!
