Im sorry but Ive been in a Mk1 and a Mk2 GTi.
1. They both had too much body roll and not enough grip.
2. The MK1 didnt have a trip computer, in the way I would imagine a trip computer.
3. They were pig slow!
4. The Mk2 had sh*tty seats!
He can sl*g them off cause he doesnt like them, just like you can sl*g the Clios interior off coz you dont like it! Its all about opinions, given the choice Id go for a 172 over any golf past or present, bar the R32!
Has anyone actaully said that a 1.4 Clio is faster/better than a VR6?

Id be pretty certain that if I was in my 172 and say Jason Plato, or someone of that ilk, was in a 1.6 16V clio, that he would beat me around a twisty back road.
Does that mean the 1.6 16V is better...
Oh BTW, I assume you will be going to Crail? Ive never seen a CTR at crail crack 15.5s - easy meat.
The teg seems to be alot better over the 1/4 mile, Id say 14.9/15.0 for the teg!
The modded P1, Id think around high 12s!?

Do you realise that the MK2 brochure said the car weighed 1035KG for a bout a year, infact Im pretty certain it still says that, Ill go and check!

I took mine in and saif there was something wrong with the backbox. Funnily enought they didnt touch the backbox and went straight for the mid section and changed it. It was almost like they knew they had a problem with the mid section of the exhaust, I dunno maybe its a known fault!
It is a myth that bikes cant go round corners quickly. In an issue of EVO they were doing a Track day special, they tested an R1, I think, it came third only to an R500 Catheram and a Radical. The cornering speeds were right up there!
Well they did that with the MK2 for a bout a year until the CUp came out when they said, "oh sorry guys we sold the car to you under false pretenses(sp?), the car isnt actually 1035KG its......", So renault have done that in the past!

Im also only going by the weights recorded at weighbridge the alloy bonnet fitted to the MK1 was weigh at 1093KG, the MK1 with the steel bonnet was weighed at 1100KG. Thats the only difference so the bonnet can be the...

We, meaning me and you, have already had this discussion. Renault have been bullsh*tting about the kerb weight of the Clio 172 since the car came out. Both versions are around 1100 KG. ClioSport did a weigh bridge between 3 different 172 marks! Hence the near identical performance...
