172 cup and non cup rear shocks are exactly the same. 172 cup front shocks are slightly stiffer than just 172 shocks BUT they fit both models. 182 cup shocks will only fit 182 cups. 182 non cups can have the 172 and 172 cup shocks.

You can always gain SOMETHING from a map even if it's just smoother power delivery. Don't expect a lot of power increase though. Mine didn't give me any power, just smoothed the torque out and made it more drivable.
