Yes mate I saw the gains your car made with 197 cams fitted. My 172 is due a belt change this year, so will probably chuck the 197 cams in, and get it mapped at EFI.

I have just had some BC DR coilovers (8kg/8kg) and BC top mounts fitted to my 172, only done around 200 miles with them fitted and no track time yet, but they seem pretty good coupled with my LSD.

A silcenced centre section will make it quite a bit quieter.

Really happy with it mate. It goes well, grippy but with a playful rear end (so fun to drive) and IMO sounds good in standard guise.

Update: The 172 passed its MoT a couple of weeks back, and is now running BC DR racing coilovers 8kg/ 8kg. Today I lowered the fronts a little bit more. A couple of pictures.. Last Sunday after a spirited drive I noticed the temp guage go well over the half way mark, and the fan didnt...

Yes quite a bit higher. I still tend to change gear at around the 7,200-7300 mark, but the extra RPMs are handy for some corners on track

7,500- 7,600rpm iirc.

It also drives a lot better when cold with an RS tuner map, very noticeably difference. 165bhp is ok, not great though! my standard 172 with RS tuner made 175bhp last time at SRR.

RS tuner is worth the money, better cold starts, increased rev limit and a good diagnostics tool. Pound for pound my best mod to date.

I think the coolant temp sensor is ok, as it still seems to read correctly and normally sits at the halfway mark. I have unplugged it ( I’ve heard this should make the fan come on) and it doesn’t. I just removed this from plug from the back of the radiator fan, it looks like it’s had better...
