Thought I'd write a thread about my visit to Nissan's Sunderland plant, as I'm sure there are a fair few GT-R fans on here! I was invited to go and drive a few of their tamer models for a media day that they were holding, but I shan't bore you with the details of underpowered and overpriced...
Re: A few new additions to Trophy 147/500
Wow, some shopping list is that! It's arguably the best Trophy I've seen, but it makes me miss mine so much! Xenons should have been on them as standard.
I loved the one I drove for its never-ending abilities, but a supercar shouldn't leave you feeling cold about it. I think it's a tricky one; you'd choose a 458 for its flamboyance and the whole Ferrari aura surrounding it, but the McLaren is the new breed of supercar with forced induction...
I love driving up there. As soon as you get past the monotonous parts the scenery and roads are second to none! That road through Glencoe (A9, right?) is brilliant if it's relatively quiet, and the roads on Skye are even better. Only thing is, the picturesque settings are distracting from...
So true. I can appreciate that many people dismiss cars such as this on face value, but if you've loved them since you were a kid, nostalgia takes over and you've got to have one.
I get so much abuse from my mates for owning an old white Peugeot but to me, it's the affordable icon of my...
Yeah, the previous owner said it's a characteristic that many have. I took that with a pinch of salt at first but it turns out he was correct, so it's quite nice having a GT3-style throbbing idle knowing it's not a problem with the car! A decat's definitely on the horizon, and maybe some R888s...
No, it's standard in the back. I've kept the standard front seats too but they always had a tendency to give me chronic back ache on lengthy journeys, so I chose to replace them.
Regarding their worth, I doubt mine's worth a lot. It's completely immaculate and its history is extensive to say...
I know the Rallye and its GTi sibling are popular cars on here, so I thought I’d share a few more photos of my immaculate garage queen!
After changing its oil, I rolled it out of its garage and took it for an obligatory blast. It’s such a great car to drive; no power steering, no ABS, and so...
If it was purely a dry weather car, there's a good argument that the Boxster Spyder's even more special to drive than a Cayman R. Day-to-day though, its roof compromises it in my opinion. The double-bubble effect on the rear does look brilliant though, but then again the new Boxster's even...
Pound for pound, I agree with that. I've driven a Cayman R at length and it was about as perfect as it gets; its handling was sublime. I've driven a Boxster S, Boxster Spyder, 911 GT3 (996 and 997.1), GT3 RS (997.1) and the GT2 RS but the Cayman R still manages to be memorable even when compared...
Not really, and certainly not compared to the handling of a 182 Trophy/R26!
I've had both, and if it's a day-to-day proposition I'd without doubt have the R26. They're relatively comfortable (noticeably so after a Trophy) and pretty effortless. Its drive is very similar to a 182 Trophy...
I drove one last month that was incredibly clean, it'd just ticked over 30,000 miles. Perfect condition and completely standard, must have been worth a fair amount too! They're iconic, wasn't the best to drive but it was most certainly memorable...

And again... :p
Thanks for that, it's useful to know for future reference. I was so close to buying one before opting for the Trophy, but I hadn't really researched the running costs for the FRP. Still have a craving for one...

Sorry to be a pedant, but that's my new annoyance on here! It's even eclipsed the they're/there/their issue. An apostrophe's simply not required there in this context!
Lovely car though. Has it been expensive to maintain? Heard...
I can see the appeal. They're ridiculously fast, practical, well-made, and because it's an Audi it'll just ooze quality. I drove a TT RS not so long ago and its engine was a masterpiece, sounded incredible too. Wasn't keen on 4WD because it did feel slightly numb in its responses, but again the...

Looks lovely, such a great colour when it's clean. Drove an Imperial Blue Escort Cosworth on Friday and even though it was cloudy, the colour still looked brilliant.
Its exhaust note sounds strangely like my old Pugsport on the...
Me too, miss my Trophy so much. Even kept in contact with its new owner to tell him that if/when he sells it, I'm having it straight back! There's just something about the way a Trophy attacks a good road. Drove just about every notable hot hatch (EK9, Focus RS, R26R, 200, GP), but not one has...
