As has been said, cat b is pretty bad, but it could just have been alot of body work. Take a new bumper for my 2002 honda, £700 ish new from honda. So whatever happened it wouldnt have been cheap. Id get some pics if you can of the damage, if hes legit he should have some really.

no way, not for £4.5k. If it was like £2.5/£3k and i was just using it as a track car then yeh. Does he have photos of the damage etc? Id just look for a straight one

Insurance is sometimes more expensive as TPFT, as they know people only use it if they don't care about their car
