Thanks everyone, should be a responsive 500ish bhp once its finished.
Yes pulsars were limited to 112, there were a few differences between the two and that was one of them.
I'm sure I've seen a picture somewhere of that one. Had mine 18 years now, did you have a similar user name on the...
Thought I'd chuck some pictures of my other car up incase anybody is interested.
Used to use it for sprints and hillclimbs a few years ago until the turbo destroyed itself, it was sat in a rented garage for a while but we moved house last year so I've got it back home now and just got the bug...
I bought it from the classifieds on here, I couldn't decide if the noise was from the p/s pump or water pump so didn't want to waste money on a new one to find it wasn't that!
The rear load valve on my 172 cup was knackered so fitted a new one today along with a couple new brake pipes, new front caliper pistons/seals and Goodridge hoses.
Oh and changed the power steering pump too as I was getting fed up of the belt squeal on start-up 😂
This will cap off the hoses, if you want to cap the brakelines you can get a female version 😉

That's where I've found myself with my 172 cup, I bought it nearly 3 years ago with 93k on the clock for £1600 as I was after a daily driver that was fun but sensible (ish) on fuel.
It's done 134,000 now and easily still worth the same If not more than I paid for it 😎 It's had new brakes...
A mixture of gearbox oil, race fuel, Mobil 1 and general workshop grime 😂
I'm just lucky and always had a baby face + still keep quite active with mountain biking etc so I'm still the same 10.5 stone streak of piss I've been since a teenager.
I stopped getting asked for id as a few grey hairs...
Just turned 41 but only recently stopped being asked for id for alcohol so don't look too out of place in a 172 cup 😚
Quite a few proper oldies on here 😂
I watched a few of them on Saturday night, it's good seeing the race from the drivers view instead of normal footage 😎 The speed difference between the LMP cars and GT classes is quite scary, especially in the dark 😱
I haven't been for the last few years but the place is magical if you're a petrolhead 😎 Was planning on going this year too 😪
I was watching the one that got taken down too, any chance of getting that link 😂 I might get some spare time today to watch a bit of it. Been making do with some of...
Who's staying up to watch it then? Usually some good action during the darkness!
Le mans at night is still the one of my best ever motorsport experiences, gutted it's behind closed doors this year 😪
I'd usually get the red bull out and stay up all night to watch but got an early start back at...
Not planning on selling this but just wanted a rough idea of what it's worth, mainly for insurance value really?
Its a standard 172 cup with 131,000 on the clock, gearbox was replaced a few months ago and has done about 25,000 miles less than the car. Had a new Valeo clutch fitted at the same...
I was shocked looking at the prices recently but any decent older hot hatch will always fetch decent money once they start getting harder to find, look at R5 GT turbo's, 205's etc.
I paid £1500 for my 172 cup 2.5 years ago with 93k on the clock and belts and dephaser recently done. It's not in...
Don't waste your time, braking a 1/10th of a second later into every corner would make more difference than taking a seat out 😉
And if you leave it in people won't laugh at you either 😂
I seriously hope I make to your age with that attitude and still own a hot hatch too 👍
I'm half your age but bought a 172 cup as a daily driver a couple years ago while everyone else my age has slowly succumbed to the boring family car, taking up golf and wearing cardigans 😂
I've always liked them, there was 3 or 4 of us that always used to have the same cars. To start with we all had R5 Gt turbos then one of the others sold his and bought a Pulsar and then we all had GTI-R's, the difference being I've still got mine 18 years later!
Mine is actually a Sunny as it...
A 172/182 is probably the closest modern equivalent of a R 5 GTT, and a hell of a lot cheaper!
I bet there's a few people here kicking themselves looking back on what they got rid of, I think I sold that Gt turbo for £1800 😭
This was my first hot hatch 20 years ago now 😱 Had it 2 years after passing my test after writing off a mint Cavalier Gsi. TSW venoms 😂
My 2 current hatches are:
Not this 😪 but the 172 Cup behind it.
And this
I thought the yellow everywhere was the most shocking thing about that car until I saw those harnesses 😱
Whoever fitted them should be strung up, selling a car with those death traps installed is pretty bad too 🤬
I use one of these in my job, I've tried a few different ones over the years but these are by far the best. This is just the first one I found as an example but if you don't need all the tube sizes you can pick them up cheaper.
Or keep an eye out for a second hand one. They last forever if...
