Very basically the engine was built by Renaultsport with certain requirements, and the plugs were one, as they are a specific length, gap and heat rating
any decent make is plenty good enough mate, Castrol, Mobile 1, Shell etc etc
Make sure it is 0w40 or 5w40 and must be Fully synthetic - Renault recommend 5w40
If you want to go a step further, get some Fushe titan pro S - it is ether based and is s**t hot
Ignore it.
The demo would have been with REALLY s**t oil - you any decent oil and it will provide more than enough protection.
If you look at independent reviews you will see they do more harm than good - this is VERY well known
Modern oils do a fantastic job, and adding additives to it WILL...
This has answered your question - as suggested it is advisable to not rev to the redline at a standstill for 2 reasons:
A: it makes you look a prat
And
B: the optimum launch for a 172/182 would be around 3500 revs - this is enough to use the power/torque of the engine as well as the...
True mate, but didn't the Clio cup cars run no baffles? I am sure they didn't and I know Tony and Jay don't with no issues? There of course may be plenty of cars that have failed due to oil surge, but I cant ever recall of one
I have no data, so I can only add in my experience, but in 14 years of tracking F7P's, F7R's and F4R's I have not had an issue with surge or bearing damage through 19+ Clio's, and I really don't go gentle on track.
Flol!! You know me too well mate! (Though hoping to hold o to this for a while, have a wedding, plus home renovations to pay for next so will have to hold off on cars for the time being - read that as ill still have it for the next Llandow day lol)
Exactly lol ;)
Tbh with in date tyres and decent padsI'd say it is roughly about as quick as my last track 172 around Llandow, so certainly not quick, but a little quicker than your average 1*2 and good fun :)
Oh I found out why I had no brakes after 2 laps - previous owner had ran out of...
It spins in 1st, though it has ten year old tyres on so that may be part of the issue lol.
On track last Saturday it was planted 95% of the time, I could get it to scrabble in 2nd gear but I had to go silly to do it.
Lotus spent a long time developing the chassis to make sure I t had grip...
Yeah they sold the moulds to kia, though it wasn't sold over here, and didn't use any of the running gear or lotus' suspension.
The engine is isuzu, but lotus actually helped design the engine - I thought they had just used it, but after reading up on it they helped design it and thats why the...
Yup - apparently for the size, weight and power, Lotus decided FWD is faster and safer than RWD - I wouldn't like to be driving a front engined RWD car with such a light rear end and short wheel base -as much as I love RWD I'll trust Lotus to have got this right ;)
Well spotted, I've had...
Check out my thread mate lol.
Elan was awesome, even taking it fairly easy on my ten year old tyres it still hung on like mad, will be really good to see what it's like with decent rubber
