Yeah I think it will be the lower ball joint. I've just done both of mine on my ph1 and it had the same symptoms. Knocking on the passenger side but I did them both.
3k for a steering rack. I'm sure you could get one and get it imported for a lot less? I don't know what...
I'd say your first problem is the ball joint but could be wrong. Cheap fix. They're about £30 but Renault will only sell the full assembly at around £60-£70 I think.
Second problem I couldn't really say. I'd say strip down the assembly and have a proper look at it. There's nothing complicated...
I think I've seen a harness bar that bolts up behind the headrests like a lot of the evo and suby boys use. Surely this would work? Get one fabricate for about £50-£60
To be fair I took a 265 out at Wakefield with not issues. Just turned up in my Meg. He looks at my car and me, I think this was a compatibility check haha.

I live about 2 minutes from the Renault garage in Wakefield and to be honest at the moment they don't have much in and haven't for a while. I sometimes call in to see what they have.

I didn't know they went in that easy!! I know you have to re drill and tap the block for the box but didn't know the engine mounted so easy.

I've never heard a screamer close up really. Only heard them at the strip. Bet they sound crazy on the road

Only ever boiled fluid on a bike at mallory park. Fair to say my arse was spread on the inside of my leathers. Pad fade is a little more gradual.
Pad fade is an easier fix too. Once your fluids boiled you got to flush and change.
