Never mind mate, chin up! At least you're not hurt, make sure you haggle on the payout if it's not what you want, and don't give in till you're happy. The point of insurance is to put you back to the same place you were in before :) Hope it's not too much of a fight.
When I worked for an...
I'd go for really dark anthracite, but gloss black on that red one does look good... I have normal F1 anthracite and I love it :) But one thing for sure... REALLY NOT white! White would just look wrong!
That's going to be something special :)
I can't help but imagine the costs involved hehe - have you blocked it out? Or are they not as 'mortage sized' as I'm thinking?
Not for me, I think it's stuff for stuff's sake. All the stories about the amount of work Nissan put into the development of the GT-R, including the aero which has no doubt had tens of millions of pounds and god knows how many hours of development spent on it.
If Wald has put the same work...
That Nimbus looks lovely, although on that Elia spoiler, the brake light looks oddly huge in the pick from the back? Does it just go round the standard light?
It's awesome to see a 5 been saved. I've loved them since I was like 16, I'd love to own one like this and have the time/space/skills to do a full resto. I'd rebuild the engine but with loads of uprated parts from K-Tec or whatever, just to make it bomb proof, not so's to run high power. I'd...
Christ at speeds even approaching anything like that my old Mk1 Vee was a bit scary heh - front end was soooooo light... Sound was epic though with the K-tec and all 6cyl's roaring into the high revs.
I paid £206 for my first service at 11k+abit and 12 months old. Didn't supply anything of my own, and thought that was alright (I had assumed £200) so didn't mind paying it. Next dealer is 40 miles away and I like the local dealer, the service is very good so again, it's well worth paying for...
Oh yea I'd totally agree with that service matters more statement for sure. I remember reading on the older ones it was belts every 12k or 2 years or something mad? Think it was an F355?
I'm always of the impression Ferraris and big mileage don't go, if you want that performance every day, you buy a Porsche. Buy the Ferrari and make sure you have that special low loader on speed dial ;) That's the impression I always get when I read things owners write anyway, and I beleive...
Great choice mate, you'll love it even more when it's run in, and it'll get faster and more economical on the way to 10k. When I test drove mine on 11k, it felt really noticeable faster than the 1.5k mile cup I test drove as well.
Good luck with it :)
E-Type is a beaut, blonde bird in the (roofless...) Lotus 2 Eleven has a right face on hehe! Respect to the loonies in the Atom - "We're only wearing helmets to keep our heads warm" hehe :)
Nice pics and write up :) I like it, I'd never have owned one but if the natural Renault haggle was up to scratch it's the car I'd recommend to my mum to buy to replace her 1.0 Arosa. She wants a bit more poke, but doesn't need to silly so this little 1.6'd be perfect. Assuming she thought it...
Bloomin' fantastic load of pics :) Grateful of my 8mb broadband right now! The stance of your car is just perfect mate, love it, well done, you've done a great job IMHO.
Dan
That's pretty mad. I'd have struggled to bring myself to keep it pinned through that bit of traffic, especially that close to that Beemer - someone pulls out on him and you wouldn't have time to see the brake lights...crunch. Loved the sound though, would've been interesting to see a GPS read...
Very creative pics, I like the style of the last 3 more as you can see the full car - especially the first 1 of the last 3, that's a great pic! Great car as well, I was looking for a Nimbus or Red, but went with LY cos I like that too, well, actually I didn't till I saw it in the flesh and just...
Still, must have some big brass ones to keep your foot in when the bonnet flies up and smashes onto the windscreen... He didn't appear to back of the accelerating at all whilst in shot!
Dan
Gutted mate, was and hopefully is a great little car! What's the word on repair or write off - it you must have an answer from them by now? Or are they draggin their heals?
Dan
This thread has cheered me up no end :D
J03 - An honest and sincere thank you - I don't know if you've read my thread in general chat but I'm having a bit of a tough time at the moment and that just had me grinning and laughing like I was high as a kite :D
And to the photoshoppers and all...
Depends, car covers on cars kept outside can do quite a lot of damage if they're allowed to move around on the paintwork when it's windy, because the rubbing can damage the paint if the material isn't up to it. You can get them with sheepswool linings and the like and that's obviously much better.
I'd be amazed if they didn't write that off. When I used to work at an insurance company, any repairs over 60% of the value of the vehicle was a write off. I've noticed similar looking calculations from when mates have made big claims.

I'd have totally loved to own a 5 Turbo like that. There's another on the big 'missed them' list... *sigh*
How much did it sell for as a matter of interest? :)
