Can't do 7th. Did an awesome road this weekend you guys need to do. Head out of Whitby towards Guisborough, then take a big left to Hutton Le Hole (not the small road first signposted)
What a day I had yesterday! Met up with some colleagues for a jaunt across the Vale of York and up into the Moors.
The car didn't perform faultlessly though, about 18 miles out of Whitby I noticed a lot of blue smoke in the mirror. I thought "s**t, the turbo seals have finally died." However...
Don't go plastering it on the rear face, just a light dusting to prevent corrosion. If you're getting wheels up to a temp to melt powdercoat (bear in mind it's applied at 180-200C) then you're doing well.
Exactly, had 4 sets that have been Zero issue. There's a lot of BS surrounding powdercoating from people who either have no idea, or have a hidden agenda (business)
The wheel bolt holes will get chewed up anyway.
I'm trying to find somewhere to take it apart fully this winter before the car cancer (rust) goes even further. That'll drain some hours and money out of me!
TBH, the leak had pretty much stopped there, but the stat was playing up so put another in. The gaskets are 1mm thick, better than the sealant I have to hand.
I'm probably going to step into the 30series of turbo eventually.
Anyway, It lives!
Hammering the studs level got the manifold to fit...
So I got up today and thought I'd finally fit my new manifold and fix some small coolant leaks.
Got all this and the crap in the way off this morning...
Knocked up some gaskets to hopefully stop my small leaks on the thermostat housing and coolant outlet...
Ripped the turbo assembly apart...
Not so sure, I'm on 1.2 bar on the T28 so it's a bit laggier. Spools up from fairly low down though.
The wastegate is so small that I reckon it could jump straight out of vacuum. The merest of throttle prods will make .3 or more boost straight out of vacuum according to my Profec B. Worth...
