If they are properly s**t tyres then yes, my 182 had heros on the back when I bought it and it was scary how easy it would lose the backend even at very sensible speeds. They were removed after driving it home from the dealers the next day for performance tyres and the difference was night and day.

You should get a Dell ultrabook for that money. My mrs got one from Dell not long back, I5, 8gb ram etc. Battery life is great and its well built. Very light too.

Seen as theres some decent deals in the sales I've narrowed it down to the Canon 1100d, or the Nikon D3100. What would people go for? I'm edging towards the Canon because of the AF lense choices. Is that the right decision?

I find they wear out far too quickly on the outer edge yet the middle of the tyre has plenty of tread left. Not a tyre I'd go out my way to buy or use again.

Kumho, Vredestein are both reasonably priced and under rated imo. Theres also Falken, Pirelli, Goodyear.

Oh sorry, well a hybrid tyre then seen as its a cross between a track tyre and a road tyre. I've ran them myself and I have a 40 mile commute each day and 6 mile of that is down a greasy B road, they can become slippy when theres s**t all over the road and its cold! Hence recommending normal...
