I paid £111 when I first got mine in 2008 for a genuine new Renault splitter, had it on about 18 months when one morning I got a bit too close to the kerb at work and it shattered in two places. Got a Skoda one after that, maybe doesn't look quite as good close up and mine is a bit scuffed now...
Been crawling under it for around an hour trying to find a God damn rattle. Finally found it where the weld on washer on the top of the rear strut (where the bumpstop hits) had given up.
Drove it for the first time in about two weeks
put two tyres on the front
painted the wheel my girlfriend recently scuffed (when she also took out the passenger side rear arch)
goes in for a repair on Monday to the rear quarter and having the front bumper painted too.
I paid £5900 for mine five and a half years ago. Recently totalled up the receipts I have (not including tax, insurance and MOT costs) and it was £2700 with a few receipts not there. That's with me doing all the servicing apart from the cam and aux belt and alternator and aux belt.
In the month...
When I first dropped it I got my drain rods out and had a sieve attached to it trying to scoop it out! Only after posting on here did I get the idea to break my aquarium scraper for the magnet. CS does have it's uses afterall.
I bought a wiper removal tool and it did the job, but Fred mentioned hitting the bottom of the wiper arm with your hand (IIRC) and that also worked for me.
Think I bought a new pump from ECP and it's been good for over a year now.
When I got thinking about it, I actually have one of these in my works tool kit. I went out and tried it and tbh it wasn't long enough. But what this did is spur me on to try the drain rods with my magnet on again, which I readapted. Anyway I got two drain rods on it and had a poke about and got...
@Spinksy is going to pop around tonight and see if his is the right one (longshot I know) if not I'll probably try one of the removal tools.
pretty annoyed with myself for letting it drop too as I'm usually ultra careful with it.
It should be the original mate, but apparently there's loads of different ones, so it's a bit of a gamble but I thought I'd give it a shot as someone will have the same one.
Due to this thread here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?743083-Locking-wheel-nut-key&p=10257966#post10257966 I was wondering if there was anyone in the Donny area who maybe had a locking wheel nut key like the one in my photo below I could lend, as obviously I need the wheel bolts...
More magnets down this morning, sieve on drain rod, tried to get the grate lid up and it wasn't moving, even tied the works van to it and gave it some tug, but couldn't manage to pull it in the right direction. So now I'll have to try and get another, without the original box or seemingly...
Just spent another 20 mins with the fish tank magnet down it attached to two drain rods....nothing!
Either it's gone or the magnet isn't strong enough. Did manage to pull up a 1p and 5p though, but left them on the kerb for someone else.
I've had a drain rod with a sieve taped to it scraping around there for the last hour or so. There's no light now. It seems as if the bottoms just totally clogged up with mud and leaves. The grate is a hinged one, might have a go at lifting it properly tomorrow. I've got some gauntlets so I'm...
I'm guessing Renault is the best place for a locking wheel nut key? Can anyone give me an idea of how I go about getting one and how much they cost?
I've just been putting my spare wheel on as my lass has managed to dent the rear passenger side arch and scrape the wheel on a gate post :mad...
Not really the case tbh. It's only on here because of the knowledge of the cars and the meticulousness/panic (delete as appropriate) that a dephaser would be changed either as part of a belt service or that early. Hence the belts could have been done recently and the dephasers failed or many...
Water pump isn't much, not sure when they're scheduled, but stay genuine. One of those things I suppose, if you don't do it now it could go later or it might be ok leaving it alone if it isn't noisy or leaking. Generally they seem to last.
Think it's only driven off the Aux belt, so not...
It seems to have become popular to do it with the cam belt early on in the cars life for some reason on here because the cam belt has to be off to do it. Whilst that's all well and good, it's just more expense to me, possibly unecessary. As a precaution I can understand it, but for instance with...
Absolutely. There'll not be many cars around that are several years old that haven't at least had a little ding here or there and some kind of repair big or little without being recorded. You might not always spot it.
I'll try the hammer tap method. Last time I done them three came loose easily, one snapped and I ended up having to get a replacement caliper. I didn't replace the nipples as funds were tight and they were fine. Wanting to avoid that hassle again....
