Going to be road legal with 2 seats, so yes, you can blag a ride Cullum. Looking to do a Llandow shakedown sometime early in the new year, then Werrington as first event I expect.
Nice pic from today's efforts. Front wings, and bumper properlt fixed on, plus aerocatches actually securing the bonnet on. So different from bits of GRP draped over the shell!
Thanks guys, it's starting to get a little more exciting now, as it gets ever closer to being ready for paint.
One of the things I really want to make sure of, is to be certain I haven't missed the smallest bracket, or hole, before the shell is painted. It would be gutting to have to drill...
It's been a few weeks, lots of fiddly stuff going on which is not too exciting, and not worth photographing!
However, I've made some headway with more fitting and welding. Today I have cut and installed the boot floor, one of those jobs which just kept getting put to one side. Made a cardboard...
Don't forget me. I know I'm too bust doing daft things to my Clio most of the time, but I'm interested in the meets. Hi fastdanbar, I'm Neil and I'm based near Truro.
Started cleaning things and painting things. Lovely when a project gets to this stage!
Type R DCCD gearbox steam cleaned,
R180 rear diff and shafts cleaned ready for paint
Here's today's photo. Finally constructed the front mount intercooler and front wing/bumper support. Still a few more bits to fit for the bonnet Aero catches, but most of it is there.
No, it will be the latest Audi Ibis white, with Subaru Rally blue roll cage and a highlight or two on the side. Roof, front splitter and side air intakes will be carbon wrapped.
Just a quick update this weekend. Have started on the air intakes for the radiator. Opened up the V6 side vent on the bodykit, and I am shaping a foam insert to duct the air in.
I can feel for you there, Chip. Had exactly the same thing with my old hillclimb Mini Cooper. The first time I drove it on fat slicks I couldn't hang on to it, and nearly sh*t myself. Thought well if thats how slicks work I'll stick to road tyres. Did a spanner check in the paddock and found the...
Not Clio related, but amusing.
I was working for a kit car company here in Conrwall, and one day one of the refuse guys walked in, to ask about a BMW his brother had just bought.
Him: My brother has just bought an E30 BMW, and he's been told it's an M3, but he's not sure.
Me: It is left hand...
Right, here we go again. After a bit of a pause caused by the welder going on the fritz, I have bought a new Mig, and we have some further progress to report.
Finished welding in the floorpan, and the roll cage mounting plates. The rear section of the cage has had it's geometry altered slightly...
We've decided the official name badge will be
Subareno Cliopreza RS172 WRX STi Type R Spec C
but it will have to be a vinyl sticker, 'cos a metal badge would be too heavy! LOL
Got a lull in the bodywork now as my mate is away on holiday, so I am about to start building a custom wiring loom for the Subareno Cliopreza using the old Subaru loom.
Hi Cullum,
When I was road rallying mine, I had the same problem. I fitted a pair of the small "cruise" rectangular driving lights under the bumper. 2 x 55 watt halogens gives all the light you need!
These are the ones I had...
I was at Werrington today, but not with the Clio. Borrowed Tony Rogers' V-Storm for the weekend, but sadly got a little too over enthusiastic with the loud pedal over the cattle grid, and arrived at the ninety left still at warp speed. You've heard of the expression "kissing" the barrier? I made...
