There is normally a mechanical switch mounted in/on the gearbox that is actuated when you select reverse gear. If this switch or the wiring to/from it is faulty the R/lights wont operate. Warranty should get it sorted though!
Spot on Ben,
Its a "sport" badge from a Megane sport. The wife kindly dinged my passender door a few weeks back on the pillar off an adjacent door mirror. Couldnt push it out properly so put the sport badges on the pillar (both sides to match) to hide the mark. Now that they are on I actually...
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info. I will look for the bolt holding this stupid tube/actuator thingy to the body, undo it and tie back the tube as you suggested.
Incidently, I currently have a temporary cold intake pipe which is below the front splitter line going vertically up to the filter...
Hi Roamer,
Any ideas how this actuator is fixed to the bodywork? I tried everyway but coudnt get it off (ohherrr!). I tried to get a cold air feed for my K&N 57i up behind the nearside headlamp but failed. Didnt want to cut the sump cover as suggested in the instructions. If I could get rid of...
Just noticed from their website that they now have three derivatives!
Slick 50 Fuel System Formula
Slick 50 High Mileage Fuel System Formula
Slick 50 Synchron Synthetic Fuel System Treatment
Ive used Slick 50 Fuel System Treatment a few times in the past (now replaced by Slick 50 Synchron Synthetic Fuel System Treatment). Couldnt say I noticed a great difference apart from idling more smoothly. I think I got my last bottle from Halfords. Circa £30 if I remember correctly...

The second figure is not the physical height of the tyre between rim and road but it is actually a percentage of the width. ie. in the above 45% of 195mm = 88mm

cye005,
I know and appreciate what you are saying. I have just made a big decision and recently sold my mint 280bhp Coupe S2 Quattro. Stunning car (~5.5 sec to 60) in a straight line and in the wet. But the 172 is just much more fun to drive!

You have to put the private reg on retention using a DVLA retention form (get from PO). Depending on age (+/-3yrs) they will send out an amended registration document/MOT/tax disk on the new number (equivalent for area/age). Old car will then get plates with replacement no. You will then get a...
Not a 16V expert by any means, but could it be due to ballasted / non-ballasted coils? From my distant Fordy days if you used a ballasted coil without a ballast series resistor it overheated? If you did the opposite it wouldnt start properly due to weak spark..... shot in the dark m8!
Geordiepaul: The new mats were heaps better. Much thicker than the standard so didnt curl up at the edges. They also have a velour "quilted" effect heal pad on the drivers side. The rears are single instead of the standard "bridged" shape. Colour is a slightly lighter grey but not out of place...
Eat your words guys!;) I got my mats replaced after two months under warranty. The drivers mat was worn through to the white backing within 400 miles (heel point under gas pedal)!! They couldnt get me the original 172 mats quickly so gave me a MK2 premium velour set instead. 2K miles later all...
Agree with what you are saying GR. A good independant is often good if not more thorough for a general service (ie. brakes, oil etc.). I used a local performance centre for all my work when I had the S2. However if any engine fault diagnostics or ECU updates etc are required they dont have...
Marc, Ive jacked up at the specified points (not very clearly indicated in the manual) a few times but not had any problems. Couldnt quite work out the need for the holes in the sill seam anyway. Could understand if the the saddle on the jack had a location lug that fitted in the hole but it...
If its parked in a relatively flat surface (especially during long periods), leave the car in 1st gear or reverse depending on slope and leave the handbrake off. Also stops your handbrake cable stretching, especially during colder nights when the cable contracts and stretches. Been doing this...
Sounds like you guys had a good time today. I had planned to come along but unfortunately work over-ruled the days plans! :( ...........Oh well ......maybe next time?
