I'd say belts or anything driven of them. Mines was doing the same thing. Got both the belts and all the pulleys changed and its a lot quieter since. How long ago were they last changed anyway? Might be a sign there starting to wear out.
Ive got a k-tec recessed one on mine. Not to loud when driving normally but sounds nice when giving it some right foot. Sits nicely aswell and dosent really stick out much from the bumper.
Thanks
Its going to get the Belts Changed on Tuesday so ill get them to check everything anyway. I had thought about swapping the wheels about to see if it makes a difference aswell.
There seems to be a vibration from the steering on the car.
Basically when turning left while driving along there seems to be a vibration coming from the front of the car. Its most noticeable/severe at about 50mph. Ive checked around the suspension and driveshafts and couldnt find anything...
The tensioner and idler pulley on the aux belt should be changed every 36k miles. Not worth not doing it because if it fails it can cause the timing belt to jump, ruining the engine.

Ive got RAC breakdown cover through tesco. Covers you for any car that you are in and in the one time that i had to use them, couldn't fault the service. I also had cover through my last insurers and again in the one time used them with my old car i couldnt fault the service. Strangely it was...
Adjusted the brake pedal sensor so the brake lights work when there meant to. Then took it for a blast to check it was ok. Just love the way that it accelerates when giving it the beans.:)
First Post but anyway.
I picked up my 172 last week and the same thing happened. Was ok for a bit but the same fault lights came up. I stopped it thinking it was something stupid and tried to re-start it but it wouldnt turn over and the instument panel went funny.
The RAC came out and jump...
