I'm in the process of selling my 172 and need to remove the private plate which is currently on it. I under stand that i need to apply for a retention cert from the DVLA which is usually about £80, but what happen about getting a new reg number for my car? Do the DVLA issue me with the old one?

Not wishing to pi$$ on your party but: 468 is the offical number of MB Clios imported by RUK, many including mine are EU imports and not part of the 468. So isn't this rather pointless?
