Its the torsion bar. Thats how the torsion bar works, by twisting, and the sound you hear, is the sound of the twisting :) If you remove ur rear seats, it gets twice as loud (as I found out) its perfectly normal, but if u want... perhaps you can go WD40 crazy... -Akira

Aye... on the non-sporty Mk1s, the Clio torsion bar doesnt really let u correct it... as I say, a torsion bar by design is non-progressive, so it bounces like a git. It's a shame, bc apart from that, I find the Mk1s to be really well balanced. -Akira

Well, I just got back from a garage, not a dealership, but; I went to have my Apex -60mm kit fitted (front shocks & springs, and rear shocks for teh torsion bar.) I dropped it off, gave them my mobile number and they said they'd call me at about 2 when it'd be done. Off I went... 2 o'clock...

Well, my auto-electrics isnt top-notch. I have cathodes in my boot, but its a mk1. -- +ve ---> [LIGHT] ----earth---|SWITCH|--earth---->[chassis] ^ there's constantly 12v going to the light, and when the boot is closed, teh 12v goes in there, and has nowhere to go. This is baaaaaad wiring...
