The current interface is pretty slow when searhing long lists of artists/tracks etc. I find it much easier to create playlists of my top artists to avoid searching through the whole list. That is the only problem i have with it though, its great quality and all that.

Yeah there is quite a bit of space down to the left and right. You need to push as many of the cables down there as neatly as possible. Only leave the ones that need to actually go into the back of the HU sticking out. Then you carefully push it in trying to push the spare cables to the side...
The remote cable tell the amp to turn on, which stops the amp draining the battery when the stereo is off. So basically you need some sort of cable remote cable for it to work.

On a related note, do you know how to remove the internal plastic that runs under the door?? And the bit by the seat belts? Don't mean to hijack the post btw!
Its pretty easy. The clio has ISO connection so you can just unplug the old one and plug in the new. The wires are a bit of a squeeze though. Also, if you have somthing like the high powered Alpine units, you may also need to run a seperate feed to the battery.
