    Electrical + Engine Management Lights

Cheers for the reply... any recommendations on what we can do to try and read the variables of what the ECU is seeing? Would CLIP help?

    Electrical + Engine Management Lights

Mates just called me and I'm finding what he's told me a little strange :S He replaced his sidelights with LEDs, pushed a few of the connectors in on and around the inlet manifold and then started the car and it was absolutely fine! Takes it for a quick spin to the petrol station and the car...

    Electrical + Engine Management Lights

Right, Just had an engine swap done on a 182 and upon first start the electrical fault light and engine management lights came on. Also the car is stuck in what seems to be limp mode. It won't go above roughly 3k revs and can't go faster than 50mph. Fault code reader returned: 298 Pedal...

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Fred, You say to use the 172 upper inlet. Just to clarify, this is in combination with the 182 lower inlet right? Got the engines out of the cars and gonna start swapping bits over in the morning. Any particular reason for this?

Is there anything you don't know? :P Much appreciated Fred!

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Did exactly as asked haha! They've come to some agreement about covering the cost of the repair. Mate wants to get a new engine put in. I've come across a 172 engine (currently still in the car) that actually has history etc with evidence of the belts being done 4,000 miles before the car took...

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Bit of an update. He got his belts done recently by "some guy he knows" who obviously hasn't done it properly. He said (and I didn't know before this) that the car would judder from time to time and occasionally cut out on low revs. So my guess is the belts haven't been done properly and one...

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Car is now f****d! He checked the oil and said there was more than enough. On his way to pick me up the car suddenly cut out, few dashboard lights came on and it won't turn over. I have a feeling the engine is borked as when I tried to start it there was a slight sound of a metallic clang from...

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

He said it checked before he went to London last week, but as I say, I'll check it with him in the morning.

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Fred, we're in Stoke - reckon it'll be ok to your place? He's adamant it's got oil in there but we'll double check in the morning.

    Diagnosis for a ticking/chain noise?

Hi all, A uni mate has a 182 on 84k. He was driving home this afternoon when it started making a very loud ticking sound from the engine. His description: "With my foot on the pedal it sound like letting a bicycle chain spin with the rear wheel lifted off the ground. When I take me foot off...

Just seen this car around the corner from my house in the Pendeford area twice in the last few days after never seeing it before. Just bought it? V.jealous as I'm on the hunt for the exact same car after my BG got written off :( 90% certain I saw a CS sticker in the rear window.

    Rear ended write-off :(

Following on from this thread (http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?696742-Gutted-Newbie!), my car has been written off and I dunno what to do with it. I've been told the scrap value is £280, but I feel like if I stripped the car then I could probably make a fair bit of money back...

    Gutted Newbie!

Thanks for the messages guys :) I didn't even have to explain to be honest. They checked the reg out and it cleared fine so I'm not quite sure what happened there. But as others have said, it is legal if you're driving to a pre-booked appointment. Bad news is that it's been written off :(...

    Gutted Newbie!

Hi guys. I've been registered for years but I've only just been able to justify the cost of insuring/running a 182. I've seen how great this forum is and it helped massively with choosing and buying the car, so thanks and keep up the good work! I'm 22 with 0ncb (never completed a full year of...
