I haven't done a proper full tank test in it yet as I forgot to reset the average MPG counter after filling it up last. I reckon mid 30s in normal driving, I'm driving up to Northumberland in a couple of weeks so I'll see what it does on a long run out.
It's pretty nippy but yeah I'm still breaking it in really, I don't do a load of miles so I've only done around 600 miles in it so far. Ford claims 0-60 in around 8.5 and tops out at 121mph.
Not hot hatch as much as warm hatch but compared to the Smart Fortwo I owned last it's like a rocketship! :D
A guy at work dropped £13k on a Clio 1.2 Tce Dynamique 5 years ago, that's half the car this is imho.
This is faster, better looking, has heated leather, heated screen, auto climate control, parking sensors/ camera, better stereo, tintz, nice wheels (not steelies).
It's all a matter of opinion...
The dash is far better in the Metal as it has piano black trim rather than silver so it looks less cheapo, also as I have the Sony DAB stereo it hasn't got the 'inspired by mobile phones' r****d thing with 5,000,000 buttons on it.
There is the S1600 in either performance blue with white stripes...
My brother in law works at Benfield so I got a pretty good deal. With all the options it should be approx £17k but I got it for just under £14k. He's trying to talk me into swapping it for an ST next year when they come out, if he can do me a good deal it won't take much persuading to be honest.
I have de-tangoed the front (a pain in the arse!) and I plan to do the backs at some point and I have put a shorter eBay special aerial on it (no pics yet).
Before.
After.
I thought I would stick some pics of my new car up. I've had it for almost a month now and I have to say it is about 1000x better that the Smart I had before it.
It's a special edition Fiesta Metal, only 1000 being built. It is based on the Zetec S with the same 1.6 Ti-VCT engine but with a bit...
The place I work is sponsoring this and they had a model of it at work one day. It's an early design and had a different fin and the rocket engine on top at that point.
Re: let us see pictures off your old cars you owned
Here are mine.
MG Maestro 2.0i
Ford Puma 1.4
Smart Fortwo Pulse
Then in March I'll be getting this Fiesta Metal
My dad had an M535i
and a Sierra XR4i
My mum usually just drove my dad's car but she did have a 1979 Toyota Starlet which is cool in a s**t way, looked just like this but silver with loads of rust.
LMAO, hey a 2.0 litre sub 10 sec 0-60 hot hatch isn't bad for a first car! :rasp: If you booted it it torque steered like a mo-fo!
It had the MG Turbo bodykit & MG TF wheels, I thought it was cool until the engine gave up. I'm sure no one cares but here's a pic just in case.
I prefer the old skool style of car to be honest. I've had an MG Maestro, Ford Puma and even though my Smart is only a year old it feels old skool as it has no power steering etc.
Right then Trophy it is, with a 197 as backup if I can't find a decent Trophy.
I'll get some pics taken with WYSteve's 172 Cup when I do get one (that's who I work with).
Cheers fellas, I guess with the lack of support for the 197 they are a bit pants, plus there are already 2/3 at work. I've got a while to save & look around at least!
Ah many thanks, good advice. I guess that if & when the dampers go they can be replaced by a set of aftermarket coilovers or would that be sacreligious? I work with a guy on here that has a 172 Cup and I think the Cup & Trophy would look good parked together at work.
I'm hoping some 197 owners...
Hey guys, I am pretty set on getting a Renaultsport Clio of some description next March when my Smart goes back (it's a lease).
The only question is do I get a Trophy or a 197? I like the 197 as it is newer & bigger but the Trophy has the exclusivity. Both can be bought for around the same...
