I uderstand that, however it cant have been android that was infringing the patents. Samsung could not legally have been found guilty if it were, as they are not the owners / creators of Android. Therefore the article i referred to must be incorrect in the statements saying it was android...

Surely if it was android (even an earlier version) that infringed the patents, that wouldnt be Samsung that were to blame. It would be Google. I think he makes some good points about innovation though.

What was the actual app you believe may have caused this. So people can perhaps decide whether to risk downloading it or not. Also, does IOS give a breakdown of what on the phone is using power? It might point to something else being the cause

Does that not make a lot of incorrect statements. He seems to think that its the actual android os that has been found to breach patents. If that was the case, it wouldn't be Samsung in the docks.

Fair enough, i am trying to learn, and only have my camera phone at the moment. Using the zoom function seems to affect picture quality too much, so end up taking lots of different ones

Seeing as Samsung have already released new/revised products that don't infringe the patents, i cant see this being a problem. I would say it was more about trying to garner a monopoly by apple rather than a principle.

Not all updates cam be done by the phone, so worth checking on the computer too. The usb charging port is also a weak point apparently, but o have had no issues with that and have had the phone since March last year

You could try plugging it into a computer and checkinh for firmware updates via Samsung Kies. I had charging problems, where phone showed as charging when not connected etx, and gave a warning on screen every few minutes. I updated to latest firmware last week, amd touch wood, it hasnt...
