Quite far north but you can't beat Kirkstone Pass (A592) and Hartside Pass (A686), you can drive them both one after the other from Windermere then back again from Alston or Haydon Bridge.

Look for Brodit mounts, fairly expensive but excellent quality and can have power hardwired in.

A decent layer of wax on the boot will pretty much sort out the orange peel, Well until it gets a proper going over with a machine polisher etc. That's what I did. This photo is mainly for annoying chris.
