Iknow this sounds strange but have you checked the big wiring loom plugs ?? The ones that go to the doors via the body work. AThey have two big rubber plugs that join in the door shut !! Near the front wing. If they have worked lose then that may be your problem, also check the drivers side one...

Remove the big plug that goes each side of the door shut !! Nearest the front wing. is a big black rubber coated one. there is one that comes from the door and one that plugs in from inside the car. Remove that and feed the wires through the holes and refitt the big black plugs. Job done.

Id leave your self a breather hole somewhere near the amp though !! I didnt and the air under there gets mighty hot after the amps been running for a while and you end up with condensation. Which = moisture when it cools and that mixed with mdf = soggy mdf ! The perspex route would look nice !!
