If I could afford to rebuild engines, turbos, transmissions, etc then a Cossie might get a look in, but for the same price you get a V6 with warranty...bit of a no brainer for me.
I think Mike is refering to the original design of the car...the Megane has never been thought of as anything other than a small family car, but the Clio V6 was essentially rebuilt from the ground up, with the layout that many supercars adopt.
The V6 also gets as many looks as a supercar...
Id get a Cupra R or a Focus RS over the megane any day, thats if you needed the space (I assume thats why youre considering it?) Like the others say, the V6 is a badass unique motor and the Megane doesnt even come close...thats not say its bad, it just isnt the same.
I used to own an Audi S4 (B5 model), 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, 14.3 secs 1/4mile (used to get 17mpg average though! ;)) which I sold for a Ford Racing Puma, which has a 1.7 engine, 0-60 in 7.9 sec and 1/4mile is a few days....but seriously much much more fun! The audi would feel like a plane taking...
I have been in a very similar situation, although I had the benefit of actually smashing into the t**ser who pulled out.
There is only one way to make sure you get your way, and that is persistence; you need to keep writing letters, drawing diagrams and photos, etc until you are blue in the...
After getting completely fed up with the standard Renaultsport steering wheel in my V6 (after only 3 weeks of ownership), I have replaced it with a Momo Jet, 320mm.
This wheel is the nuts. As opposed to the standard wheel, this one feels like its been designed by someone who has fingers and...
Not exactly a difficult car to control really is it? Nice light clutch, power steering, electric everything. Now if you saw your granny in a westfield....
Any ideas where I can buy blue acoustic carpet the same colour as that in the Mk1 Clio 172/V6? I want my new sub enclosure to blend in to the interior...
Cheers.
When I recently bought my Mk1, the seller was kind enough to let me have a blast in his MY53 Mk2. Because it wasnt mine I obviously didnt go Tiff-style round any corners but here are my thoughts on the differences...
The mk2 has a slightly throatier sound to the engine when pushed.
The mk2...
Hey Stu, the colour I was talking about was the Nology car.
No mods, hmmmm, mine might say the same, but I think because Ive come from the FRP with a real small wheel, I just cant get on with this one. I like the feeling of flicking the wheel without having to feed it
Looking good. Lets not tempt fate eh? ;)
Almost sold on the idea now, except I cant find any wheels from momo or sparco that match the clios interior. The momo silverjet might work, but it might look a bit chav. Might play it safe and go for a black one...
Not too bothered. I had a chat with my car, and it agreed that if I wore my seatbelt I could lose the airbag ;)
"Errr....you mean this steering wheel isnt standard?" But I guess if I told them, they would probably try and get some money from me, purely because there is a safety aspect to...
Cheers Mandy. They seem pretty competitive. They mention the boss kit for Clio, 03/98> - Airbag , I take it this would apply to the 2002 V6 as it still falls under the Mk1 umbrella? Does it have exactly the same steering wheel as the mk1 172?
Hey Stu, why are you selling? Do you like OE wheel in the V6? ;)
Thanks for the pointers u33db. The Jet is one of the best looking wheels, Ill see if I can find a pic of the bluey one.
Will any momo wheel feel like a better size than the current one? I notice that a lot of them come in 320...
My wheel looks like this....

...Im sure we could come to arrangement if thats what you were looking for.
So Im after a smaller wheel (not sure how much smaller, I havent measured the current one), I want something thats...
Has anyone got any recommendations for a replacement steering wheel for the mk1 v6/172? The original wheel is far too big, and reminds me of my parents Scenic (at least that looks like a bus). Would a smaller wheel help create a more direct feel when cornering?
I dont want a new one to look...
Not overly-liking the wheels, but that front bumper is sweet. Is it modded from a standard one, or after-market kit? (and does the guy even know what a speed-bump is? ;))
