Couple of things related to power/speed of my Williams really.. For info, my car is 99.9% standard - just running a green filter element.
Ive read a few posts about top speed runs in the past, and much of the time I see a similar comment - "car pulled all the way to !25/!30".
My car...

In Essex area, will drive in another car to pretty much anywhere local within reason this evening.
Been to 2 Renault dealers and Halfords, no-one can help me til Friday.. but I REALLY need to get some oil out of my car.
Cant start it as it is, and need to get to work tomoz afternoon...
My car has used what seems to be average amounts of oil since I bought it, taking a litre every 1000-1200 miles, but yesterday morning when I got in the car, the guage was sitting much lower than it was the previous night, at just over 1/2.
I made a mental note to buy some oil later, and...
Just looking for some info on these really, preferably from someone who has actually owned one in the past (or indeed has one now).
Is the fuel economy as good as the figures suggest (around 55mpg)?
Noisy?
Refined? (yeh right)
Any other info?
Also which is the highest spec.. RN? RT...
Had a taste today of what ABS (or lack of) could do for me in certain situations (see other forum!), so Im curious if its possible to take the ABS system from a dead valver/williams and fit it to my non-ABS Williams 2.
Dont have a clue how it works so I dont know what would be involved in...
Following on from Svezels thread about returning to standard airbox, and so as not to hijack it, does anyone know if any benefits are to be had from shielding the standard Valver/Williams airbox from engine heat, wrapping it in something to reduce overall intake temps?
Anyone tried it?
What...
Following a thread in the Driving Tales forum (the ITR thread), I decided to download cartest (http://www.richmondgear.com/downloads.htmlhttp://www.richmondgear.com/downloads.html)
This program compares cars according to certain stats and specs, you can update it with new cars so Id like to...
Ive read/searched a fair bit about F7P/R engined cars sounding like a tractor for the first few minutes on a cold morning, but never a definitive cause or solution for it.
Read it may be being due to different grades of oil? Well I know of a bunch of us using oils ranging from 10W40 fully...
Driving home tonight I noticed that I can no longer choose main beam when in the full headlamp position on the wand. When the lights are dipped, I can flash the main beam, but it simply does nothing (doesnt lock in position either) when I try on position 2!!
It was fine before I parked up...
Can all of you who pay your insurance with a monthly payment plan tell me who youre with, and whether you have mods (if any) declared.
Any other info?
My cheapest quote so far is Direct Line, but they wont allow mods (because Im 21)
Just trying to get a list of all the possible...
Can anyone tell me the process for storing a car long term without any detrimental effects to the health and condition of the car.. what fluids etc would need to be drained etc? What sort of storage could be used.. v. dry i should imagine but would that be best for the engine?
Any ideas...
Just curious what everyones got planned for their cars for the Winter months really.. unless of course its top secret until unveiling hehe
Im going to get mine looking as good as the day it rolled off of the production line, then see what happens after that :devilish:
Whos gonna be doing...
I have a small 2p sized patch of bare metal under the front left arch, remnant from a previous ding..
Its right underneath, on the back edge of the arch.
Whats the best way to clean/treat/protect this patch to stop it rusting, its already started to colour and its only been there a little...
Asked this in another thread but got no response, so here goes.
Im getting myself a DAB head unit this week (Blaupunkt DAB53) and Id like to stay with just one aeriel on my car (dont want to ruin it).
I understand that I can get a dual FM/DAB aeriel for about £100, but what I need to know is...
Im just curious what everyones thought on modifying a Wiliams (1, 2, or 3) are.
Should you not touch them at all?
Can you get away with mods that are easily restored to original spec. when the need is there (e.g. zorst, quad lamps etc)?
Is it just the bodywork that matters, are engine mods...
Following on from a recent ding, and after replacing everything (shock, hub, wishbone, ball joint, driveshaft, brake disc!) on the offending side of the car, things still arent right..
From the symptoms Ive described, BB say its more than likely subframe damage that wasnt visible when the...
Got in my car this afternoon and started it from cold, and the oil pressure guage rose to almost MAX. It read like this for a good 6-7 minutes, until I stopped and switched off. When I turned it back on, it returned to the normal readings at different revs.
Could this just be a faulty sensor...
Since I got it, I have kept my car from going much over 3k revs for the first 10 - 15 minutes of the journey, until the Oil Temp has risen a fair bit. Only then do I open it up.
What Id like to know is, what temp does the oil have to be at for it to be safe to open things up a bit?
What...
BRUN: "you should be looking at £30 worth of bottled stuff minimum, and then you need a big bucket, a good sponge, and definitely a chamois.......you need a chamois, also polish applicator, buffing cloths and some good terry towels"
Just about to do my car properly for the first time, can you...
After three weeks of nightmares with my Williams after I lost control and hit a kerb, BB Tuning came to the rescue, just in time for Donny, and fixed my car in about 3 hours this afternoon!
To get my car back to full strength took 2 other mechanics/garages before BB, both of whom got the...
Had a front left wheel impact with the kerb a few days ago (skidded in the wet etc), and as a result the wheel points at a strange angle compared to the other front wheel.
Investigating, I found that one of the "front lower suspension arm balljoint retaining nuts" is missing (I presume it...
I was dropping off a friend today, pulled up by the side of his road (which ive never been down before) and let him out. It was a dead end, and I had to spin it round to get out, so a quick check out the rear window said it was all clear. I swung back to make use of what looked like a wide...
