Some bits are and some arent, as youll find out.
Front springs fail commonly and when they do, take out the front tyre because the spring seat is moronic and the spring drops down over it.
Drop links last about 15 minutes up here before theyre audible
The handbrake is awful, but dont ignore it...
The big problem is that your BMW dealer isnt a branch of BMW (like Tesco for example), its a franchise of some indepenant chain, who then have the right to sell and service BMWs on behalf of BMW UK. As a result, you're faced with their branch policies, company policies and then BMW's policies...
Yes but the point is you simply shouldnt have to and the dealers are just c***s ripping the piss out of the unsuspecting.
When dealing with a large retail network, I expect the price to be the price, you wont find me haggling at the checkout in a supermarket, so why should I have to at the dealer?
@Mike12 - Thanks very much for posting those! Oddly my relay box is a different style, it's like this:
https://www.cliosport.net/attachments/20683383058_6efb9553b6_z-jpg.1240097/
Fuel pump relay is as you say is 236 and called out on it's own and the starter (my other issue) is 232 and looks...
Hi @bloke if you could take a look that would be great!
The most important thing's I'd like to find out are:
Where does the power to the fuel pump relay come from (which fuse)
What is it switched by (I assume the ECU)
Where does the power go from there? I believe fuel pump, coil, but I also...
Does anyone have a wiring diagram, excerpt from one, or a link where I can find out which fuses serve which relays and which relays provide power for what?
I'm specifically interested in the fuel pump/ignition relay, but could do with the whole lot if possible.
Thanks
Yeah agreed on T1-r, I wouldnt run them on my wheelbarrow.
Rainsports are pretty good all round, or if you have the budget, then the michelins get a good rep.
I tend to work from the road backwards as that tends to give you the right priority in your thinking
Are your tyres the correct size, a decent brand, not excessively old and in good condition?
Are tyre pressures correct?
Are the tyres mounted on the correct width and offset of rim?
Are the...
So this morning it was colder (-4) and it decided not to start. After a couple of tries, it would only crank for 5 seconds at a time. Connected another car with jump leads to stabilise the voltage and it went back to cranking normally, so I assume the ECU cuts the starter when the voltage drops...
So the codes were:
257 Throttle Valve position sensor
293 Supply after relay
293 seems to pertain to a lack of power after the fuel pump/coil relay, and since it runs, I'm going to assume this is a historic code.
257 seems to have many possible causes and fixes:
Faulty throttle body...
Ahh, so it's potentially a limp strategy due to the throttle body not behaving when cold - which would make sense with it working when warmed a little (throttle pedal doesnt get warm that quickly). Good to know!
Not managed to get codes yet, my CLIP for my old clio needs 32 bit XP which I no...
So my clio starts from cold and idles at 2000 rpm and the the throttle pedal doesnt do anything at all. If i let it run for a little while, shut it off and restart it, it's perfect.
Once its sorted, the throttle works fine, and it idles fine, suggesting its not an issue with the throttle pedal...
So just to confirm, if set is enabled using the dash switch, simply pressing R should hold the current speed and it will trip off when the brake or clutch are used?
Thanks
f**k sake, I cant believe Im actually looking at this. It's genuinely terrifying that someone looked at that and went "proper job" and fitted them tbh.
Very little overlap
Little to no structural continuity
Lots of nice places for fatigue cracking to set in
Piss poor welding
I'm all for people...
Tbh, people bang on about accuracy but for hobby use, what's important is not overtorquing small fasteners or ones installed into aluminium and for groups/patterns ensuring they are all at the same torque. Most things done up to a significant torque on modern cars are angle tightened and the...
You wont find one that starts from 0, and you'll find every manufacturer will have different sizes covering different ranges due to the way they work internally.
I have the halfords ones for what its worth, the 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive versions and have been very happy with them (find someone...
I can definitely empathise on emtying the savings to grab rare parts when you find them, because you know you never will again!
Excellent work on those bits and the patience required to track them down!
Ah well if the plan is killing the engine rather than feeding it the most it can safely take on a stock block and then using it then charge temps irrelevant ?
If it was already installed, on a standard car, and you wanted to squeeze a bit extra out of it, then thats one thing, but you're speccing what you want in advance and its currently sat on the floor of your house and you've already decided the power it can sensibly deliver isnt enough.
If you...
I can totally understand wanting more power in an MX5, but it seems like youve decided to buy a small pulley to squeeze another 20-30bhp out of a setup youve not even installed yet, which is an admission that the charger isnt big enough for what you want and in the meantime you still have no...
I've paid £40 for them twice now to put badly modified cars back on the road legally. With the value of 172s as it is, the price of a new cat writes them off effectively.
