No, I think thats just how it is as mine does the same. A lot of people turn the auto lights off due to this problem iirc.

I just the ballpoints for my car, roughly the bottom joints were £25 and the track rod ends were about £45. Not sure about the gaiters, prob about £10?

Is your steering racks secure? Like u said earlier it looked like it had massive amounts of play! Your clicky ballpoints need replacing anyway so do that first then see what happens, it looks like inner tie rods to me.
