As for the MK1 V6 its build is quite solid, no nasty rattles. Our MK1 172 sweaks and rattles some what more than the V. The price of the car shows. I think youll be more than happy with it mate.
Yes, agreed... gearing is one of the weak links in the chain for the mk1, shame we cant do a side by side comparison and see what the results would be on the mk1, with the standard gearbox and then with the mk2 gearbox fitted.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ what wrx-172 said!! Suspension can be easily changed for huge improvements also.. takes all of an hour to sort out if u really want a firmer ride.

If u just want power and incredible handling thrown in for good measure.... definitely get a VX220 Turbo (approx £25k)... 0-60 4.7 secs standard.. a simple Superchip will gain another 20bhp and your nearing 4 secs to 60 with a few more tweaks!
£320,000 Porsche Carrera GT will do it in 3.9...
No probs Nick... just incase your interested..I just got off the phone from David @ k-tec as Im after a few bits .. but, he has just purchased a Megan 225 as a new project car. So you may like to speak to him before making up ur mind on the V6.. u might find they can get it up to 250bhp easy...
