Not really that strange, purpose of the demo is to make you want to buy the game. By making the demo too hard people it likely puts people off buying it. Guessing they listened to the feedback from the 360 demo.

Elite was launched today in the US, but no word on when (more importantly if) it's going to show up in blighty.

Flash being used for websites = poor form. Looks nice, but usability wise and for search engine purposes it's shoddy. Still to XHTML/CSS and you'll not go wrong.
