Cool :) Picked up a set locally for £50 to use as winter wheels.
Are they the standard colour John? Was thinking about painting mine anthracite same as my 182 FF wheels. No the best looking wheel I know, but without centre caps they look OK ish. I would have preferred some Turbines, but...
Does it exist!!??
My recently bought 182 has a stubby aerial fitted, but the radio reception is really poor (Alpine HU), it won't lock to any stations. It also overlaps the base a little.
Can anyone recommend one that fits better and works well? I've heard CTR ones mentioned, but do they...
I was pretty sure that ph2 valver wheels fitted the 1*2 ok, but have since read one thread that said they didn't.
I know they can fit as i've seen pics, but is it straight swap or do they need spaces to clear calipers?
Hahaha, trying to post using my phone when pissed up = total failure!!
Not only did I repeat myself, I was actually replying to a question about the headunit from someone on PH!! Nevermind.
I'm at work this morning & feel like death!!
I must admit, going back to a 4 cyl the sound is so boring. The 5cy T5 lump sounds awesome, and our 6 cyl 330 sounds silky.
Still, the stereo is nice ;)
It works with the stalk but not the display.
The car has recently been polished by Steve from this board, but not sure what products he used, it wasn't a full correction, just a quick detail I think. I just washed and dried, buffed up with Meguiars Last Touch, treated the plastics with AG Bumper Care, glass cleaned with AG Fast Glass...
Picked this up last Friday, bought it from Simon. off the board.
I downsized from a Volvo 850R estate, great car and I really regretted selling it, but I was getting itchy feet and fancied something a bit cheaper to run for a few years. Bit of a downgrade in a few areas, but the both have...
I've just bought my 182, and even though it had an aux belt replaced when it was supposed to, they (French Car-Nection) didn't bother to replace the idler or tensioner, so for peace of mind I have bought & fitted a complete Renault Aux kit.
Anyway, I noticed that on the invoice, French...
I'm sure I will mate, looking forward to having something a little smaller and more focused, even if it will be a bit down on power :)
I'll miss the 850R's midrange torque, and the sound of the 5 pot, but at least the RS 1*2's can handle out of the box!! Can't wait!!
Well, I put a deposit down on Simon.'s BG 182 this weekend. Just got to wait for the reg transfer and for Simon to sort out his new car :)
It's a good job there are plenty around as i've been messed about more trying to buy than I was when selling!!
As far as alignment goes i meant mechanically, not cosmetically. Suspension arms/struts, turrets, subframe, slam panel , etc.
Cosmetic repairs are easy, it's the stuff you can't see that gets bent and needs checking out.
^^I was right then!
Still, if it runs ok, has history and repairs look ok then £2k isn't too bad really. If anything is out of alignment up front (or rear) then i'd walk away though....
It's had a new front bumper by the look of it, but as said even if it has had paint, if it's been done well then it's no big deal. HPI will only show up for write off's, plenty of people driving around with cars that have been accident damaged but repaired on insurance so wouldn't know unless...
From looking around I'd say it's probably a bit steep at £2k, there is a 52 plate one near me with 85k, fsh, and just had belts, clutch & flywheel replaced at a Renault specialist, and that's up for £2k through a dealer.
Thing is, I posted about a 53 plate 172, 50k, fsh, very tidy for £2500 and...
Fair enough Davo, i'll find out when i go to view.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to cars and only buy ones with lots of history, receipts, etc and i've not had a bad one yet! Although, the nearly new seicento sporting my missus had back in the day was pretty unreliable, but she bought that one!!
I don't do many miles as I can cycle to work, but the missus may choose to use this for her commute to save her running her 330ci about. Will save her a bit on fuel anway, although she hates the Clio's!! She said I should have kept my 850R!
Really? I know it's fairly common, but I think it looks nice when the suns on it.
This was my original thoughts, I think because I've been looking for a little while you end looking a bit newer, etc.
Doesn't put me off as such, well, until I've seen the car. I've always worked on my own...
Re: 182 FF with cup packs worth the extra over 172 FF?
Well I've wittled it down to a couple that I want to look at the weekend.
A 53 plate 172, silver, 50k, FSH, belts just done, short MOT & tax though for £2500.
Or an 04 plate 182 FF, Arictic Blue, 94k, FSH, looks very tidy, 9 months MOT, 6...
Re: 182 FF with cup packs worth the extra over 172 FF?
I like the idea of the Ph1, and maybe if it was a second car I would consider one of these with the lightweight bits and go crazy, but I already have a second car so this will be a daily. For that reason I'll probably try to limit the mods...
Re: 182 FF with cup packs worth the extra over 172 FF?
Yeah, sorry revels, I've since read that only a 182 with cup packs can be called a 182 FF, and that a 172 is just that, as is a 172 cup ;)
Cheers chaps, £3k is top wack for me, which is why I was looking at 172's, but a few decent 182's...
I love the comparison between the BMW and the Hyundai.
Lets think about this for a moment, so that RWD, possibly a reasonably powerful car, with very intrusive traction control, vs a FWD Hyundai, probably sub 100bhp and unlikely to have TC.
Let me tell you from experience, the TC on our E46...
I'm looking to buy a 1*2 at the moment, downsizing a bit from my 850R, fancy something smaller and a bit more fun in the handling department, better economy is a bonus as well.
Anyway, initially I wasn't too fussed about the 182, so was looking at decent ph2 172's. Thing is, as I've started...
Cheers guys. This one has been looked after (I have the wad of Volvo receipts to prove it!), and at 15 years old is on average mileage. These Volvo's really do take the miles well, my T5 before this was on 220k and still went through MOT's with minor advisories. This one at 150k felt a lot...
