Ive always wanted turbo power, but I love clios!
No way can I afford £7k + for a 16v turbo conversion so may think along the lines of a R5 GTT conversion.
But as it stands Im skint so only dreaming, sure other people will be interested in this subject as well though.
Of swapping a 16v unit for a GTT unit.
Obiously its turbo so therefore tunable.
What else has it got over the 16v, also though, what will it lose?
Obviously top end power but anything else?
Has any one done this - I know some have gone from 1.4 RTs etc but has anyone gone from 16v to GTT?
My filter makes no difference, if anything I may have lost some.
With just a backbox and a piper-x filter Im making 136.5 bhp.
That could be cause the engines done 104k or cause the filters lost some.
Sounds fcuking superb though so Ill live without that 0.5 hp!!
Yeah the outside ones, I got some coloured ones to put on. Just cant be arsed to rip all the door skins off then hope the clips dont all break in the process!
If the sun stays out till the weekend I might attempt it.
I wanna know more about this "1.4 Williams"
Never heard of it myself. U sure some tight wad didnt blow a williams and replace the engine with a 1.4rt lump?
I think the myth that 172s and 182s would thrash 16vs is based purely on power, if you think power to weight then it makes it alot more even than first thought.
Not that I would pass up the opportunity to own either a 172 or a 182.
But I dont feel terribly inferior in my car either!
So...
Check out "Car" magazine - they feauture the 180, 182, Cooper-S and Seat Leon Cupra.
The 182 was miles ahead of the competition for everything, power, drivability etc etc.
