Deleting aircondition system on 172 ph1 is it worth it??

JMS do a aircon delete kit for the ph2. No idea if it will fit a ph1 and not sure if you have to buy the alternator ? http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?552996-JMS-Air-Con-Removal-Package-(PH2-RS)

JMS RS2 before and after results

Exhaust, induction kit and a remap will see about a grand for not much in the way of gains so against this then i reckon its worth it imo Pretty much even with cams in terms of peak gain?

query re ph1 172 acoustic valve / maxogen

No acoustic valve mate I removed my original air feeds by just pulling them out. Tidied it up a few years later by removing front bumper

    R S stamped lower inlet

Theres a bolt on the side above the pulleys. Jack the car up Support the engine via the sump (piece of wood between jack and sump for protection) Remove upper Plenum and anything which would get in the way Remove fuel guard Remove fuel pipe from rail Remove fuel rail. Remove all the front...

    ph1 ph2 cylinder head

IIRC while the ph1 has bigger exhaust ports the ph2 maybe 182? had larger inlet

JMS RS2 before and after results

I'm quoting what you wrote in that post ;) End of the day if you peaked 197 with this fitted (172 him - 182 you) it would be seen by most as a heck of a good gain

JMS RS2 before and after results

Yeah but every car is different. What he had previous and what he's gained as the end result is what matters. Folk take RR figures as the be all and end all. Its easy to fall into that trap.

High comp pistons. How do they drive?

Ah dynamic CR. Reading fail on my part sorry :o

High comp pistons. How do they drive?

How comes your CR is lower after fitting cams ? :S Surely CR wouldnt be effected

    carbon canister

Its like toe nails. They do nothing but you wouldn't go to the trouble of removing them lol Can appreciate removing it for the brake duct. Other than that, seems a lot of hassle for no point

High comp pistons. How do they drive?

When you say sluggish do you mean like lag when its off cam ? I bought a spare bottom end, not sure whether to forge it prior to fitting. Its mostly a road car but do the odd quarter mile.
  20. A

    carbon canister

Ah right i see. Is there no way it could be just relocated?
  21. A

    carbon canister

Whats the point in removing it? :S

High comp pistons. How do they drive?

Just out of interest: Do high compression pistons change the way a car feels to drive? Will it make the car more lumpy to drive under normal road driving and / or sluggish at low revs? Does it shift the power more towards peak or will the power remain the same across the graph ?

mapping for torque instead of power

Ported, polished, light skim and valve seats cut 3 angles. Initial work was carried out at a local engineering place and then perfected by AWT (angel works) via GDi years ago.

mapping for torque instead of power

Iv always had above average torque levels from the 172 with basic other modding. Pretty sure the reason why has been the headwork

    Orange - signal - T-mobile

I'm gonna change too. Sick of it cutting out and having a dodgy line. Its every time i speak on the phone!

flow of exhaust gasses trough cat

As above. On a 172 / 182 the flange types wouldn't mate up being the wrong way round

    Where to clean fuel injectors?

Lucas (motor factors) did mine years ago for £20.

    Orange - signal - T-mobile

I find Orange absolute crap since this T-mobile signal merge thing. At home it constantly cuts out when im on the phone. Never used to do it. Also in general, the signal is really poor compared to before imo
