managed to get almost a full day's work on the engine again today, really happy with how its looking.
Decided to go silver for the block (gearbox will be going silver too) as the engine bay is going to be black, also silver should show any potential leaks (god forbid), and then hammered black...
good to see this turned around so quickly. May try and get across to silverstone on saturday also.

So, more progress again, its low but its progress.
This covers a few weeks work and is only snippets, but there is only so many pictures of welding or engine blocks with masking tape on you can take...
A few weeks back i managed to kidnapped beanie of beaniesport fame, and set him to work on...
looking good chap, couple of questions if poss as it looks like you have already gone down the same interior route as i am going.
1. have you added extra mounts to hold the mark 1 dash top? (rather than just using the top 3 screw holes)
2. what does your switches on your control box control? I...
great work kenny, although yours is for much different reasons we seem to be in a similar position with progress, good to see your pushing forward, and in great style as per.
progress makes me very happy, prior to this and for quite a while prior to last week I was fed up of the sight of the thing again, no progress in a long time, and being super busy in the near future made it feel like it wasn't going anywhere again. But just seeing this has given me quite a...

cheers mate, all welcome to the rebuild day.... ha
So the potential rebuild is potentially in motion,
The engine and airbox have been dropped off this morning at JC Weldfab (http://www.jcweldfab.co.uk/) to sort the few issues i had with the airbox and its mounting to the engine block, they will have it for approx a month and then i will have it...
A lot of what made it what it was is still there, apart from the interior trimming really, but that is going to be finished to an equally high standard. It will go back together this year. Then you can love it again.
Yeah, totally understand mate and appreciate letting me know, i may have...

Hopefully i can get on the top of it this year, i am working on it, but not really been that active on here
interesting thread...
I am just starting to re-look at this and sort a few little niggles out, never had any problems with it apart from the aforementioned above, there is talk about potentially re-creating this also though if there was enough interested.
on that note.... here are some pictures...
THIS IS NOT THE GOBSTOPPER (this is a friend of mines build), only a few photos as i am not sure how much should be shown
ah ok, i have heard about them failing through not being fitted correctly but thought this may have happened as a result of something else....
as you say though, expensive fitting them compared to a normal screen
