iirc the box's are the same size but the espace v6 one has a single outlet where as the 172 one has double, so do they take the same filter?

on a mk1 the injectors go directly in to the head so there would be no need for that, im pretty sure this setup will work on a mk1! do you have any figures? (power and price?) looks pretty good!

is this using a standard itb manifold?

yes they are, the F4R makes more power initially (typically around 10-20 bhp) but the gains from cams and the like will produce near on the same results.
