OP: There is no need to change anything on your 197 for a trackday unless someone put budget pads and tyres on. Try it on track then change what you need changing but you won't be going any faster until you have reached the limits of the old bits.
The only thing I would change is the tyres, if...
I get violent understeer on entry to Coppice. Maybe not violent but just enough. lol
I'm sure you can have me in the twisites but my excuse is standard supension and tyres. ;)
Exactly Steve. Brake and turn........ Wait for the back end to come round then throttle. lol
I stick by that you should adapt your driving to the car and not the other way round.
I'm not an early breaker and it's perfectly fine. In fact I'm one of the very last breakers for Paddock Hill at Brands. The Mk3 RS has excellent standard pads which is very hard to overcome their limits.
The Cup does have the hard dash and not the soft feel dash. The cup doesn't have climate so you need to find a dash panel with manual a/c for the swap. You can buy the door pillar sticker but no idea on price.
There is no additional weight savings on the 197 cup AFAIK.
Was this a 2009 M3 with 888 and stoptech brakes? I was following a similar one in dec but had the same problem as you. 4pot vs V8 isn't the fairest battle. lol
Doing what Jay says would definately help with the smoothness. In the 200 I'm in fourth gear without lifting at Surtees but I do like...
It doesn't have to be an MG engine but has to be from the MG group or its subsidary. I don't know anything about MG to know where they have a suitable engine.
The new 6 runs a 1.8 turbo. No idea what it is.
My point is 888 need a MG group unit to run in the car. I don't see why they would have a TOCA swindon unit for a factory backed team considering they want the advertisment let alone the fact the TOCA unit is nowhere near the VAG or Honda motors...
BTCC was always a piggyback series for RML though. Running their old WTCC car in different series was the attraction but having to build a new NGTC car without Chevy funding is hard to see.
There also seems to be confliciting information on whether the MG is running the TOCA swindon unit or MG...
It's not bad for a new 200. Different people is going to have different views but it comes down to you. Are you not adding options?
Get £13k and buy mine. ;) 1 yr old with lots of option vs new with none.
Saw this on twitter the yesterday. Very luck and good ad for his engine.
I am 100% sure he didn't put his hand out. This is why you need arm restraints.
They said they checked the slave cylinder and can't fault it as it only happens intermittently and there is no fluid loss. Clutch operation is also fine.
TBH I don't think they'll ever fix it and it'll probably just fail one day. I'm just going see what I can trade it in for.
Been experiencing this for quite a while now but no one can find a fault. Basically I cannot select any gears at all for around 30s.
Conditions are:
8/9C (I guess 6-10C)
Cold engine/gearbox (left overnight)
Weirdly any colder or warmer than it's perfectly fine.
Took a vid on my phone...
