Sold the white SD cage.
Left car in the garage until April, moted it and bought a PMS Shifter.
Bought a black SD cage and some Corbeau XL Clubsports in June.
Car did 125 miles between MOT and early August came back from holiday and decided to get rid, sold the cage, sold the clubsports...
Never, noticed or considered that could be a rule, guy in our garage at Brands on an MSVT event was knocking back a pack of Stella the other evening.
And he came out as a passenger!
I prefer an easy to pour oil as I'm hamfisted so if they've just got an open end I end up pouring it all over the place, where that appears to have a little spout.
Chip (remember him?) has a 197 with a 250 engine, easy swap he did it in a weekend.
If I didn't have my 172, I'd buy an already turbo'd one. You'd be a fool to do it yourself, one sold tonight on eBay for £2500, less than the cost of the conversion!
That's what I thought, he's thought it's too hot, lifted, paniced, span.
Love Oulton, I should watch more videos of track time as just that spin video makes me want to go back!
I've got newish suspension parts in the garage for it to go as a 172 Turbo without the Billies and can easily have the box out. So that's probably how it'll go, shame really as it's an epic set up as it is.
I completely agree, I'd probably buy an R26, but then I was thinking that when I paid...
Who wants to spend 5k on a 16 year old car? Only a fool would spend £1500+ on a gearbox rebuild :O
Keep thinking, I'll use it one day, perhaps I'll have time to do a couple of track days in 2019 and will regret ever considering getting rid.
Why do I still own this then? Is it overpriced? https://www.cliosport.net/threads/172-turbo-by-ed-quaife-and-b14s-£5250.819844/
Getting to the point of pulling the diff, suspension, whiteline out and putting in a standard box and Cup Shocks & Eibachs and putting it up at £3500?
Oil cooler is £150 + fitting which is just an oil change with perhaps bumper off to locate it.
Boost is quicker than bodies, but bodies have that drama and hammer sound that can't be replicated.
Yes, it's much quicker! A mapped Clio, a bodied Clio, even a bodied & cams Clio ain't keeping up.
Standard Cup
Cup with Bodies
Boost
The torque is the killer.
Oil cooler is needed for track days.
I'd agree with that if it was 2016/7, doesn't seem to happen now that Clioturbo have...
If spending 5k plus on a 172, I'd not be buying one with standard suspension, especially if wanting to do track time.
Mine has Billies and even they are compromised on track. You can hear the tyre v inner arch here and that video is standard Brembo pads, and road tyres so not even trying so...
Anyone who sells a car with words "It's an X year old car" I'd be walking away anyway. That rust will kill it.
I'd have kept the other car than buy that.
As an example, my gearbox rebuild was £700 from NLC - you don't know what's wrong with them until they are apart and are you then just...
Going to upgrade the coilovers on my Clio, are BCs a good enough upgrade? And is there much difference between the new digressive valve model and the old ones?
Has anyone used one of the MLR premade set of oil pipes on a 172 Turbo? Just wondering how much flexibilty there is with them as won't be able to put the cooler under the crash bar,
