Was trying to work out the licensing for a network I'm setting up.
I have 200 users accessing OWA offsite but only 4 physical PC's on the Domain. I thought I'd get away with a 5 device CAL's.
But I guess it wouldn't be that simple and I presume Microsoft would treat every remote user's PC...
I've just ordered a few PE2900's. I stuck at least a good 16Gb RAM in them and extra NICS - purely for the fact with Windows server 2008 you always get a virtual server licence aswell plus Hyper-v.
Well this is the thing - it's gonna be tricky to say (200 students) so anytime of the day really - suppose I need to plan for all 200 at once.
It will only be used for Email and intranet access only - but they will download documents from the intranet.
Maybe best to look at hosted solutions.
I'm setting up a small network for a company that is only going to be used for mail and intranet access from the internet. Basically I'll probs have 200 users accessing OWA from the internet.
Question is will I get away with a ADSL connection?
SDSL isn't available
Bonded ADSL being the...
ok you defo have a virus/trojan/spyware - it's the type that stops you connecting to microsoft and from your anti-virus from updating.
Go to Device Manager -> View show hidden devices -> in fact I googled it for you try link below...
Also did you use this product:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php
or one similar? Did you update it before you ran it? Did you run it in safe mode?
On your laptop mate can you run command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and tell me or screenshot the results. Also I take it the laptops don't work when you plug them in with a Cat5 patch lead?
First I've heard of ISP's doing this?
Also your DNS will be forwarding your requests to a proper DNS server (usually your ISP's or other known DNS if you set it up correctly, otherwise you might be using root hints):) yours will just host the local network DNS records.
So you got two laptops plugged into your router - one with a fresh install and neither can access microsoft.com?
You said you downloaded SP off another PC - Was that connected to your router?
Can you ping www.microsoft.com from the command prompt?
What make of router do you have?
Can...
Hmm not sure m8 - only ever use pptp for windows VPN and all my site to site VPN's with IPSEC (and my cisco/netgear VPN clients). To be fair with an IPSEC connection you have a phase 1 then phase 2 connection maybe it's negotiating this and building the tunnel before the Application launches...
Set up users locally on your PC and assign rights to them users - when people connect to your machine they should be prompted for a user name and password - use the name and passwords created locally.
Control Access with NTFS permission's (right click folder/file and choose security, also share folders this way under sharing tab). Also make sure file sharing is open on your windows firewall.
How many users you got in each site?
What windows licensing you got?
Whats the total storage use you currently have?
Reason you need a need a new file server? performance, speed, reliabaility?
Whats the full current spec of your exisiting server?
It's just like lego m8 - dead easy. I'm sure the internet is full of guides. Just do it is what I'd say.
Get case -> screw in mobo -> plug in CPU, memory and all cards -> plug in power, HDD's and CD/DVD drive and case leads -> power on
I've played a lot of MMO's (since UO) and they are all grind fest in one way or another - yes this is a korean game but it has been westernised for the Western market. I'm just looking forward to the mass PvP and the nice design of the game.
MMO's are about who you play with tbh and what you...
I'm currently in Beta on this and I must say it's a great game! very very polished!! amazing work for a beta version.
I'm only level 12 atm (the fun starts at 25+) but it's a real pleasure to play and very addictive. It also runs really smooth - I haven't got the most upto date PC yet I can...
