Hard to tell without seeing your parts, as that pic of the strut isn't yours, so we really have no clue till we do. Is the 3rd pic yours? if so was it tight? If it was, can you see anything stopping it going lower when you take it off? Process of elimination.

The part you have pointed to is part of the bottom rubber top mount, can be seen in my pic. So I can't see how it can be missing.

Just drive it straight away, don't leave it idling. Drive it for 20 mins or so.
