so far yes , I was expecting some teething problems , as you know you can never expect a rally / race car to work out of the box , would have been nice to get further than 2 stages though !
I have spare rear hubs made up ready to fit if we have a failure again
I have had a look and the race car does have larger rear bearings compared to a standard 172/182 , but none of the parts are now available from R Sport , I called them today and they say you have to fit the 172/182 one piece discs and hubs.
I damaged the wheel studs extracting them out of the...
if they are Alcon only then they will be expensive , my old 206 cup car had Alcon one piece discs and the front and they were very expensive for what they were , and when I can buy rear discs for the 172 for less than a tenner each , i'll be sticking with them for the small amount of braking...
yes I could do , but if the bearings are the same size I'm not going to bother , i'll use 172 parts , they will be so much easier and cheaper to replace when needed , I did notice yesterday while stripping it down , the stub axle base is thinner to allow for the shims to be fitted without...
Yes mine are separate discs / hubs on the rear as well , the standard clio discs fit on though as I have just fitted them on from the standard axle I have just to get the car mobile again so I can free up my ramp , I think for ease of getting parts , I'm going to fit the standard clio 172 stubs...
My next event will be West Cork , i'll sort out the issue's I had and have a couple of days in Llandow testing it as its only a few miles away from me , not going to bother doing anymore events before cork.
Need to change the battery cut off
Sort out the hydraulic handbrake , I might fit an...
uploaded another in car video last night , the second stage that we retired on and you can hear the noise we had from the bearing

Tony , you said in post 200 its untrue the amount of times you check yours , then above if they are torqued up with new nuts they should be ok ?? I'm a bit confused with that , what do you do with yours ?
I change the bearings when they show a problem , what mileage would 12 hours equate to
didn't realise it would be a problem , once I have fitted it all back together i'll drill the stub axle and fit a split pin , at least it won't come off again
Anything similar I need to look at
it has cut out since having the car , but usually if you leave it ticking over , the auto electrician said it might have a sensor fitted that if it doesn't sense a difference in voltage it could switch it all off , on the rally everything is switching off , as though you have pressed the battery...
it's the one they fitted to the clio cup race cars , think they are called XAP or something ??
Short in car from today , i'll download a couple more when I get a mo

The nut off the rear nearside hub came off and the bearing collapsed , I haven't done any work on them so don't know why it came off , was p1ssed off that it did , had a couple of problems while we were there but nothing that would have stopped us , but when the bearing collapsed we were stuck...
Bit of a change of plan and am now using the clio in Pembrey on wednesday now looking forward to my first event in it , got it MOT'd today , and MSA log booked , so its all legal for rallying now , got a couple of things to do to in tuesday.
Will be using my golf 2 days later on a rally in Longmore
I was brought up on Escorts so know where your coming from , this was a handfull in Ireland through the slippy lanes with 316 hp !
My old 206
Then how an Impreza should be driven lol
With a front wheel drive car on gravel you need to be braver on the throttle keeping it down on the...
Why ? I have done loads of gravel event in FWD and 4WD , I had a 206 cup car that you could throw around like an Escort , sideways everywhere , it was a lot of fun :D
Ouch indeed , £4k's worth of ouch lol , I have just bought a rally prepared Mk 2 Golf as well to use on Gravel events which I'm using as a test on a rally in Pembrey on the 28th , its also running 15" wheels so I can use the tyres on both cars
No , I'm doing a rally in it on the 30th dec , I have just bought 30 brand new rally tyres for it so selling off the bits I don't need , not quite finished the car , but just a few small jobs left
Its held in place by the 4 bolts that hold the tank in place , you can see the times I wrote the thread , from unpacking it , to having it fitted , less than an hour !
Its very well made , and a piece of p1ss to fit , thumbs up from me
It depends what rallying your going to do , no they won't be any good for gravel rallies , I'm only doing tarmac rallies in mine , and most of them will be closed road rallying , so it should be up to the job , if not I could always strengthen in up , if its still not up to the job i'll make an...
